Guiyang City, Guizhou Province: Updated Information on Police Collecting Blood Samples from Non-Consenting Falun Gong Practitioners

Sept. 20, 2014 |   By a Minghui correspondent from Guizhou Province, China

(Minghui.org) Police and staff from the residential committees from Guizhou and Liaoning Province have been forcibly collecting blood samples from Falun Gong practitioners since April 2014, and in some cases, even from their family members.

This unusual behavior has prompted people to question if this is related to state-sanctioned organ harvesting. Journalist Ethan Gutmann, the author of a new book The Slaughter, which provides in-depth investigations of organ harvesting atrocities in China, commented that these incidents are “a truly alarming development.”

Forcibly withdrawing blood from Falun Gong practitioners is widespread across Guizhou Province, especially in the capital city Guiyang, where at least 19 practitioners and some of their family members reportedly had their blood forcibly withdrawn by the police.

Wang Zhonghua from the Huaguoyuan Police Station led two other officers and staff from the local residential committee and broke into the home of Ms. He Hua, 51, on August 8. Ms. He's mother Ms. Tao Shunyun, 73, was also there. Wang claimed that he needed to collect a sample of their blood to obtain their DNA for the “new-generation” identification cards. When they resisted, five of them held down Ms. He and her mother and forcibly withdrew their blood.

Ms. He Hua reported that staff from the Shifenglu Residential Committee and two medical personnel had previously broken into her home on April 20. They tried to withdraw her and her mother's blood, but they resisted, and they left empty handed.

Caiyong, Wei and another officer from the Jinzhu Police Station broke into Ms. He Yueqin's home on the morning of April 23, informing her that they needed to take a sample of her blood for the next-generation identification card. Ms. He and her husband believed this might be an excuse to take their blood samples for tissue matching for organs, so they refused to cooperate. The officers soon left. However, they returned at around 1 p.m. and forcibly grabbed Ms. He's arm and withdrew her blood.

Li Ruibin and another officer from the Chaoyang Police Station forcibly withdrew blood from Ms. Zhou Mingfeng, 62, on April 21. Li told Ms. Zhou that it was required to help with their investigations in another case.

Ms. Liu Guifang, 52, reported that Li Ruibin and another officer went to her home and forcibly withdrew her blood on April 25, also using the excuse that it was required to help with investigations of another case.

Mr. Wang Zerao, 80, was harassed at his home by Li Ruibin and another officer. They used the same excuse of investigating another case to withdraw his blood.

Li Ruibin went to the home of Ms. Zuo Guixiu, 66, and forcibly withdrew her blood on April 25. This time, Li informed Ms. Zuo that it was required for next-generation identification cards.

Zhou Yanqing from Chaoyang Police Station and Gao Shuxing from the local residential committee went to the home of Ms. Chen Shiyu, 79, and forcibly withdrew her blood. Zhou claimed it was to help with investigations in another case.

Ran Mengjun from Chaoyang Police Station and residential committee staff harassed Ms. Liu Wanqin, 76, and Ms. Zheng Keyu, 78, at their homes on April 25 and forcibly withdrew their blood.

Zhang Lin and two other officers from the Shixi Police Station forcibly withdrew blood from Ms. Chen Suhua, 70, on the morning of April 25. Zhang took photos of Ms. Chen and told her that they are building a DNA library, and that her DNA would be added to their database.

Ms. Li Ruiqi, 84, reported that Zhu Yayun from the Feixingjie neighborhood committee and a medical personnel forcibly withdrew her blood on April 25.

Li Hongjie from the Yanzhong Police Station and a staff member from the Longjing Residential Committee went to the home of Ms. Jiang Zonglan, 57. They first withdrew blood from her husband Mr. Wu Xuegui, who doesn't practice Falun Gong, and then forcibly withdrew her blood.

Ms. Yao Qiuyuan, 65, Ms. Tang Wenzhen, 77, and Ms. Jiang Guanghao, 74, reported that police officers Han Liping, Zhang and Sun broke into their homes on May 15, and forcibly withdrew their blood. They stated that it was because “they are Falun Gong practitioners.”

Ms. Fu Yanxia, 58, forcibly had her blood withdrawn on June 10. Ms. Qin Fengdi and Ms. Liu Qiangju also had their blood withdrawn.
