1. [Anshan City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Zhu Zuohai Sentenced to Prison

Mr. Zhu Zuohai, 58, who is disabled, was arrested by the Hunan Police Station on August 12, 2014. His home was ransacked. He was sentenced to four years in prison on December 18, 2014, by Xu Jinping, a Tiedong Court judge.

9. [Shuangyashan, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Sun Shujie Faces Trial

Ms. Sun Shujie

The Shuangyashan Police Department recently informed Ms. Sun Shujie's family that her trial would proceed despite the family's request to evaluate her mental state. However, the family wasn't notified of a trial date.

Ms. Sun was arrested in June 2014. She soon suffered a mental collapse as a result of torture. Despite her condition, the local authorities insisted she be tried. Her family requested that she be given a medical evaluation, but didn't hear back from the police until recently, four months after they made the request.
