(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 8 cities or counties in 6 provinces. According to this report, 3 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 14 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Xiangyang City, Hubei Province] Ms. Yan Shihua Forced to Relocate

Ms. Yan Shihua was arrested on August 10, 2014 for distributing Falun Gong materials. She was taken to the Wangzhai Police Station and released the same day.

The police ransacked her home the next day and took Falun Gong books among other items. Later on, the police cut off the water and power supply to her home. She was forced to relocate.

2. [Guan County, Shandong Province] Ms. Sun Xiuying and Ms. Yao Hualan Arrested

Ms. Sun Xiuying and Ms. Yao Hualan from Qingshui Town were arrested on January 5, 2015. Both practitioners are being held in the Linqing Detention Center.

3. [Shulan City, Jilin Province] Mr. Wang Hongfang Sentenced to Prison

Recently, the Shulan Court sentenced Mr. Wang Hongfang to three years and eight months in prison without notifying his family. Mr. Wang is being held in Jilin Prison.

4. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Mr. Yang Zheng Tortured in Jidong Prison

Mr. Yang Zheng from the Fengnan District was sentenced to five years in prison. He is being held in Jidong Prison. He has been brutally beaten by inmates every day. Inmate Zheng Bin broke his nose in August 2014. Mr. Yang's legs were also severely injured. He now has difficulty walking.

5. [Dezhou City, Shandong Province] Ms. Li Junlan and Ms. Liu Arrested

Ms. Li Junlan, in her 50s, and Ms. Liu, about 50, were arrested on the afternoon of January 12, 2015 while distributing Falun Gong materials. The police ransacked Ms. Li's home. They took Falun Gong books, a computer, and other items.

6. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Lu Aiguo Taken to Brainwashing Center

Ms. Lu Aiguo was arrested and taken to a brainwashing center on January 7, 2015, for talking to people about Falun Gong in a park.

7. [Jiuquan City, Gansu Province] Mr. Zhang Jianguo Arrested

The police broke into the homes of Mr. Zhang Jianguo and Ms. Zheng Yuxiang to conduct a search on January 7, 2015. Mr. Zhang was arrested on January 8 and released three days later.

8. [Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Liu Yuelian, Ms. Song Xiuhua, and Ms. Zhang Shaozhen were arrested by officers from the Shuangmiao Township Police Station in Xuanhua County on the afternoon of January 13, 2015. They were arrested for talking to people about Falun Gong in Xuanhua County.

9. [Panzhihua City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Huang Ling Detained

Ms. Huang Ling, about 60, was arrested in late November 2014 for distributing Falun Gong materials in Jianyang City. She has been held in Jianyang City.

10. [Fengcheng City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Lu Jun and Mr. Jin Biao Sentenced to Prison

It was recently learned that Ms. Lu Jun and Mr. Jin Biao from Fengcheng City were both sentenced to three years. Ms. Lu is appealing her verdict at Dandong Detention Center, while Mr. Jin has been transferred to an unknown prison.

11. [Muling City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Gao Yuqin Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Gao Yuqin from Muling City was recently sentenced to four years following her trial on November 21, 2014. She has been in detention since she was arrested on May 12, 2014.

12. [Tianshui City, Gansu Province] Ten Practitioners Sentenced to Prison

Ten Falun Gong practitioners in Tianshui City were recently sentenced to prison:

Ms. Li Cuifang was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months.Mr. Li Yikui, Ms. Xiao Yanhong, Ms. Tang Qiong, and Mr. Zhang Zhiming to 4 years each,Mr. Qiao Wencheng to 3 years,Mr. Wang Minbing to 3 years and 6 months,Ms. Ma Xiaojuan to 2 years and 6 months with 4 years suspension,Mr. Zhu Kaihong to 2 years under house arrest, andMs. Xia Yanling to an unknown term.

13. [Jing County, Hebei Province] Mr. Liu Xiwei and Ms. Sun Suying Detained Beyond Legal Deadline

It is one month past the deadline for Jing County Court to issue verdicts against Mr. Liu Xiwei and Ms. Sun Suying. They are still detained in Hengshui Detention Center.

According to the law, the court can't keep the practitioners in detention for more than three months. The court filed the couple's case on September 17, 2014, and they were tried on November 20. The last day for the court to announce the verdict was December 17. If no verdict was issued by then, the couple should have been released.

Both practitioners' lawyers pointed out that the court has violated the law for detaining the practitioners beyond the legal time frame.
