Sharing Falun Dafa with My College Classmates

Feb. 10, 2015 |   By Cai Yun, a practitioner from Liaoning Province, China

(Minghui.org) I am a college student living on campus and a Falun Dafa practitioner.

Master Broadened My Wisdom

Many people think that once we're in college, we don't have to spend a lot of time preparing for tests. Indeed, college is not as stressful as high school. Obtaining a diploma is also pretty straightforward.

Therefore, many students spend so much effort to get admitted to college, then waste the following four years not learning much. Many college students spend their spare time watching dramas, playing games, and listening to music. Other than that, they just eat and sleep.

However, my perspective is a little bit different: I'm first a Falun Dafa disciple, and then I'm a student. As such, I work hard in college, regardless of how others behave. I give my full attention to everything I work on, and demonstrate the upright manner of a Dafa disciple.

I'd often encounter challenges during my studies and doing my homework. My classmates who don't have a clue how to do the homework tend to wait for the hardworking students to finish up and then just copy the answers.

I tried to do it with my own efforts. I searched online, but didn't find answers. I had only wasted time.

When thinking of other alternatives I wondered why I had never asked Master (the founder of Falun Dafa) for help. It was because I didn't think I should bother Master with my everyday problems.

After studying the Fa and reading experience sharing articles on Minghui, I understood that Master oversees all aspects of our lives.

I was once concerned that all my answers to a difficult problem were incorrect. When trying to verify my answers, I got even more confused after checking sources on the Internet. I then completely doubted all my answers.

A reminder came into my mind: Don't look online but look within; the solution is not wrong but just a certain detail is missing. I checked my solution right away and found that missing detail immediately. A problem that took me over an hour to search for answers online was resolved instantly.

Helping Others Is Helping Oneself

Because I follow the standards for a Dafa disciple in daily life, my grades are ranked at the top among students of my major.

A certain class for my major was very challenging one year. Only four students in the class persisted on listening to the lectures. The rest of the students either slept or played computer games at the back of the classroom. They didn't even try to listen as they didn't believe they could understand.

But I'm a Dafa disciple, so I didn't follow along with the majority of my classmates. I thought, “Wouldn't I be validating the Falun Dafa if I could correctly deal with these challenges and conflicts?”

Therefore, I was not intimidated by the difficulties. I would carefully listen and take notes in every class and then review them after class. As I kept on studying, I found that this class was not as difficult as I imagined. Instead, the more I studied, the more I wanted to study.

At the end of the semester, the classmates who did not listen in class all came to me. Some wanted to borrow my notes; some wanted to look at my solutions; some came to ask questions; and others came to ask for a study guide of the test.

It sometimes took me an entire afternoon to help my classmates. There was often a big group of people in my dorm. My roommate said to me, “I'm really impressed! It's actually their own fault they didn't pay attention in class, but you're using your own study time to help them understand and catch up. You're probably the only person who'd be so generous.”

After the examination results came out, all the classmates I helped passed the exam. These classmates said that they would have definitely failed the class without my help.

From the surface, helping others is making a sacrifice. But actually, helping others is also helping oneself! I truly felt this because all the questions I covered with my classmates were exactly the same questions in the final exam. It was all too familiar for me. After the exam results came out, I scored first in the class! Doesn't this prove that: “helping others is also helping oneself?”

Sharing Falun Dafa

I have told ninety percent of my classmates about Dafa and the persecution. Many of them are saddened that injustice is being perpetrated against the practice of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, and that Dafa disciples were being wrongly persecuted.

One classmate said to me, “There are still so many things I don't know about. It's so shocking! I don't know how I've even been living my life all these years, I've been so blind!”

I said, “This is just what I can tell you. There are even more heinous crimes being perpetrated by the regime in China that are not known by people.”

Another classmate said, “Oh my god. Jiang Zemin (former Communist Party leader) is more evil than the invaders from Japan. He started the nationwide organ harvesting! He's so evil!”

One classmate said, “Even if you didn't tell me that, I already knew the communist party is bad. It is so bad!”

Another classmate said to me, “After we graduate, we will each be looking for jobs. I don't want to leave you. You've helped me so much with my school work, life, and how to even behave properly. I hope to keep in contact with you!” I was very touched after hearing this. It's Dafa's Master that truly helps people.
