(Minghui.org) Master said:
“What I've told you is that you should be a good person wherever you are and have others say that you are a Dafa disciple.” (“Teaching the Fa at the 2004 Western U.S. Fa Conference”)
These words are imprinted in my heart, and I will always live and act by them.
When another practitioner and I distributed Shen Yun DVDs in March 2014, we were reported to the authorities and taken to a police station.
I cooperated with the police when they tried to take my fingerprints, but the first attempt failed when the machine didn't work.
I realized that the machine broke down because Master was protecting me, so I clenched my fists shut. The head of the police station said that he would take my prints by force if I didn't cooperate. I loosed my grip, but they still couldn't pry my fingers apart. An officer was sweating profusely as he tried to pull them apart. The others in the room looked in surprise when such a tall, strong man couldn't pull apart a young woman's fist.
I said, “You've had contact with Dafa practitioners over the years and you know that we are good people. You should respect me.”
I was taken to a detention center and held there for 15 days. There were drug addicts, prostitutes, and violent people there, but no other practitioners. Whenever somebody asked me why I was there, I told them that it was because I practiced Falun Dafa. One of the inmates said that she liked practitioners because they were nice.
I refused to wear the detention center uniform and report the number they had assigned to me to the guards. I always talked to them and the inmates about Dafa and asked them to quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its affiliated organizations.
The guards are all female and work in pairs. The inmates stay in the hall most of the time and are only confined to their cells during meal times and to sleep. I wanted to let more people know about Dafa, so I did the exercises in a corner of the hall.
I was called into the office, and about six guards surrounded me. I was told not to do the exercises in the hall, but they were okay with me doing them in my cell. Later they gave me a pen and paper and told me to write down why I practice Falun Gong. One guard said that she wanted to read it when I had finished.
I wrote a five-page report detailing how a person benefits from practicing, including how practicing Falun Gong brought harmony to my broken family. I also wrote about the "self-immolation" hoax on Tiananmen Square, the spreading of Dafa around the world, and that Jiang Zemin and others who persecute practitioners were being sued abroad.
The inmates were the first to read my report, and I gave it to the guard who asked for the report when she came back on duty. After the morning exercise, this guard said to the inmates, “When I walk along the corridor, I see the Falun Dafa woman doing the exercises every evening. She wrote a report that says doing the exercises is of great benefit. You all should learn a healthy lifestyle from her.”
There were over a dozen inmates in my cell. They all liked to be near me, but Xiao Shuang kept a distance from me and only gave short answers if I talked her. I was told that she practiced Buddhism and wanted to open a store to sell Buddhist supplies. She was short of money and thought that she could make more money by being a prostitute.
When a drug addict was brought into our cell, I talked to her about Dafa and told her that she should quit the CCP. She did.
Xiao then told the others, “An evil ghost is controlling the drug addict, but it was eliminated by the Falun Gong Teacher.”
I told Xiao about the practice and why she should withdraw from the CCP. She had joined the Communist Youth League and Young Pioneers, and quit them both.
One inmate in our cell was detained for drunk driving. She worked in a factory that made cassette tapes. She said, “Our factory used to make Falun Gong cassette tapes. They were running day and night shifts to meet the demand. Falun Gong music is really nice. I was responsible for quality inspection and bought a set of tapes.”
An inmate with poor health was told to talk to me. I told her about Falun Dafa and explained why she should quit the CCP. She did and also learned to recite “Falun Dafa is good and Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.” She asked me to write the words down so she wouldn't forget them. She carefully folded the paper and put it into her pocket.
Another practitioner was brought to the detention center. She had memorized the Dafa materials well. I bought two notebooks and wrote down everything she recited, including poems from Hong Yin and Hong Yin Vol. II. Some of the inmates read what I had written in the notebooks.
The drug addict I mentioned earlier also bought a notebook. She wrote down sentences she liked and also copied everything from my notebooks. She wanted to remember everything for when she was released. I noticed that she wrote Dafa information in the same notebook she used to write other articles. She later realized that doing that was inappropriate and tore up the pages with citations from other books.
Some inmates wanted to practice Falun Gong after they were released, while others wanted their family members to learn. I overheard one inmate say, “People who learn Falun Dafa are so nice and treat others well. If I lived near her, I would like to learn Dafa, too. But I live too far away.”
We act according to the Fa's principles and consider others first in whatever we do. Others watch us and remember any nice things we do. When we talk to others about Dafa, they are full of praise.
