(Minghui.org) Auntie Ye is my neighbor, and incredibly health-conscious – so health-conscious, in fact, that it came as a total surprise when she developed diabetes a couple of years ago.
Of course, this came with a prescribed diet and exercise regimen, and for a while it was no problem. However, she found that her joints ached whenever she would exercise, which led to the diagnosis of her joint diseases.
Auntie Ye became depressed, and understandably so. But hope came to her in the form of Falun Dafa, the spiritual practice which cured her of all her ailments.
After she was diagnosed with diabetes, Auntie Ye couldn't eat fish or meat. She also had to stay away from certain types of vegetables.
After every meal, she had to do aerobics for a long time in order to get her blood sugar down. But because of this intensive exercise, she developed joint effusion.
The diabetic ritual of blood sugar testing was also very hard on her, who had very little pain tolerance. Pricking her finger multiple times a day was not an enjoyable exercise, but it was a must.
Day after day, she did these prescribed things and took her medication. After several years, her personality became nervous and sad; we would hardly ever see her smile.
One day, when I was chatting with Auntie Ye, I told her the facts about Falun Gong and the persecution. I told her that the staged “self immolation” on Tiananmen Square is a massive propaganda stunt contrived to turn the population against Falun Gong. I told her that the principles of Falun Gong are “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance,” and that we practitioners follow these teachings to become good people.
I also told her several stories about how people recovered from difficult-to-cure diseases after they sincerely recited “Falun Dafa is Good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is Good.”
She listened very carefully, and seemed to really understand my words. Later, she told me that she couldn't sleep that night because she was thinking about what I said.
After that, she began to recite the verse every day. She also withdrew from the Young Pioneers.
Whenever we were together, she always talked excitedly about how she was getting better, and about how much she wanted me to teach her the exercises.
One day, she told me, “I can eat meat and fish! I can eat as much as I want. And guess what my blood sugar level is? It's normal again!”
I was happy to see her become her old, energetic self again.
