(Minghui.org) I found a job at a downtown hotel in 2002. I was in charge of the warehouse and inspection of goods.
As a Falun Gong practitioner and one who abides by Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, I used only those principles to regulate my work and the relationships with my co-workers.
At work I always made sure to conduct myself well. For example, I made sure to come to work early and leave late. I was very responsible regarding my work and always kind to others. I also never minded personal losses. When the “Employee of the Month” award was selected, I always requested that the opportunity be given to others. In this way, I developed the trust of my supervisors and co-workers.
I only took care of the warehouse when I began to work at the hotel. My supervisor developed more trust in me and later gave me the responsibility of inspecting the goods for the restaurant and hotel.
The hotel had a very good business, so I dealt with many customers. Some tried to give me bribes so that I would not be so strict with their goods, but I turned all of them down. Some knew I was a Falun Gong practitioner and behaved very well, so they respected me a lot and stopped offering me bribes.
I was once inspecting the lodging goods and found many did not meet our standards. I refused to accept these goods. The supplier was worried and offered me 300 yuan as a bribe, which I refused. He said he had also bribed my supervisors and that they all accepted it. If I accepted his money, he would be responsible for the related issue. I told him inspecting the quality of the goods was my responsibility, so I could not take the money.
I reported this experience to my supervisor. He decided to return some of the goods and to keep the rest, which were still useable. The supplier agreed and thanked me for my help.
I did not let everyone know that I was a Falun Gong practitioner during that time, due to the harsh persecution. However, I always gave people that I came into contact with Falun Gong informational materials, or I would help them to understand Falun Gong and the persecution.
My financial manager mentioned that the hotel work unit required everyone to express their opinion about Falun Gong. I said that that Falun Gong is good because I personally benefited from it.
They all knew that I constantly worked but was never tired. They knew that I never asked for sick leave, and that I never had any injections or medication—yet, I did not have any illnesses. I was nearly 50 years old, but my healthy appearance made me look much younger than people of my age.
In the face of conflicts and interests, I was considerate of others and never minded how much personal interest I lost. I took care of my financial records clearly and neatly. My manager said she trusted me and took it easy on me. I knew this all came from my practice of Falun Gong.
My relatives ran a hotel and needed my help. I could work a half-day, and I also thought about spending more time spreading the facts about the practice. I asked to quit my job, and several supervisors talked to me one by one. They knew I was a Falun Gong practitioner, so they did not want me to leave. They said they could help fix my problem and offered to give me a higher salary.
However, they understood that I needed to leave and that it was not because of the money. “It is very hard to find someone willing to take on responsibility like you,” they said. “You are welcome to come back at any time. And If you know of anyone else like you who practices Falun Gong, please recommend them to us.”
I went back several times to tell them more about Falun Gong, gave them materials, and helped them to quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). They all were accepting of the information each time. One of them not only quit the CCP but also helped his whole family quit. He also recited, “Falun Dafa is good; Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.”
Three of my ex co-workers even read Zhuan Falun, the main book of Falun Gong, and they experienced clearer minds and good health.
I feel very proud and happy to be a Falun Gong practitioner.
