(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Yang Riming, a young, well-respected farmer, was putting up Falun Gong informational stickers when he was arrested at around 11:00 p.m. on May 23, 2015.
He was taken to the Guandu Police Station in Maoming City, Guangdong Province, and later to the Maoming Detention Center.
Over 10 officials, including agents from the 610 Office, took Mr. Yang back to his home early the following morning, waking up his family and neighbors.
His parents, wife, and three young children were terrified when they saw the police push Mr. Yang down on a stool and ransack their home. The police confiscated a television and Falun Gong informational materials.
Mr. Yang had a problem with his neck and was unable to turn his head, so his doctor told him about Falun Gong. After he read Zhuan Falun, the main book of Falun Gong, his health improved and he could turn his head.
He is the sole support of a family of his elderly parents, his wife, and three young children. Since his arrest, his family has had great difficulty getting by.
When they went to the 610 Office to ask for Mr. Yang's release, they were turned away. Officer Zhou Wen said that the family's financial difficulties were not his concern.
People from the township committee wrote a letter to the detention center and 610 Office vouching for Mr. Yang's character, explaining that his family has fallen on hard times because of his arrest, and asking for his release.
Zhou called the township committee and reprimanded them for writing such a letter.
