(Minghui.org) Ms. Li Jian, a senior engineer, has joined the thousands of Falun Gong practitioners who have filed a criminal complaint against the former head of the Chinese Communist regime for launching the persecution of this cultivation practice in 1999.
Ms. Li filed her complaint with the Supreme People's Procuratorate and Supreme Court, located in Beijing, on June 16, 2015.
She described the essence of her lawsuit in a few words, βThe police repeatedly arrested me and harassed my family. Because of the persecution my family fell apart. My husband couldn't take the pressure and divorced me while I was detained. The mental pressure also traumatized my mother and she passed away.β
Ms. Li, who began to practice in 1997, has been detained five times and taken to forced labor camps and a prison for a total of nine years of imprisonment. In addition, her home was ransacked by police three times and she was fired from her job.
Ms. Li was arrested on May 16, 2008. The police confiscated her car, personal belongings and her home keys. She was secretly tried in August 2008, sentenced to seven years in prison and after two appeals the higher court upheld the verdict.
Ms. Li was taken to Shanxi Province Women's Prison on January 18, 2010. She was closely monitored and tortured by four inmates. She was deprived of sleep, given restricted use of the restroom and forced to watch videos that slandered Falun Gong. She was released on September 16, 2014.
Police demanded that the neighborhood community officers monitor her. Her household registration was confiscated by police. In addition, the police demanded that she submit blood and DNA samples and provide photos. She was worried that such information would be used to build a donor bank for live organ harvesting.
She was sentence to 12 months of forced labor in May 2002 and 15 months of forced labor in June 2006.
During her detention at the Xindian Forced Labor Camp in 2002, she was tortured, deprived of sleep, denied restroom use, forbidden to talk and brainwashed.
In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.
The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners in the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.
Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the β610 Office,β on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.
Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
