Snapshot of Falun Gong Practitioners Whose Copies of Lawsuits Against Jiang Zemin Were Received by Minghui on August 6, 2015

Aug. 17, 2015

(Minghui.org) Many Falun Gong practitioners are now exercising their legal right to sue Jiang Zemin for launching the persecution of Falun Gong and causing them great harm and tremendous suffering during the past 16 years. The momentum of this new wave of lawsuits against the former Chinese dictator is on the rise.

The Minghui website receives copies of criminal complaints against Jiang from many practitioners daily. In this report, we present a snapshot of some of the practitioners whose copies of lawsuits were received by Minghui on August 6, 2015.

These lawsuits are mailed to the Supreme People's Court and Supreme People's Procuratorate, which are required to process all criminal complaints filed by citizens, as of a recent ruling by the Supreme People's Court.

Persecuted Relentlessly for Practicing Falun Gong

Falun Gong practitioners from all walks of life have been persecuted since 1999, the year when Jiang banned the peaceful cultivation practice.

A former instructor of a police academy and two practitioners whose background is unknown, were arrested, detained, incarcerated, sentenced to forced labor, brainwashed, tortured, and/or fired from their jobs or deprived of retirement benefits. One of them died from torture.

The following excerpts describe how workplaces, police, and government officials torture and harass practitioners, attempting to force practitioners to give up their belief in Falun Gong.

Case 1: Zhang Qiping (张其平)

Profession: Former instructor at the Langfang City Armed Police Force AcademyHometown: Langfang City, Hebei ProvinceDate filed: July 7, 2015

Key FactsMr. Zhang Qiping started to practice Falun Gong in 1997. After Jiang started the persecution of Falun Gong in 1999, Mr. Zhang was arrested three times and detained for a total of 47 days.

He went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong on July 22, 1999. After returning to his home base, he was arrested by police from the academy and detained for eight days. The academy president demanded that he give up his belief and threatened that his oldest son would not be able to go to college if he refused.

The Langfang City Police broke into Mr. Zhang's home and arrested him on August 22, 2000. He was detained for 23 days in the Langfang City Detention Center, where he was forced to package chopsticks.

He was detained in a brainwashing center for 16 days, starting on January 29, 2001, where he went through psychological torture and was deprived of sleep. He was also injected with unknown drugs.

Because of his belief in Falun Gong, the Armed Police Force Academy officials forced him to quit the army and demoted him in August 2000.

Then, the school moved his residential registration to another city on March 6, 2001, which separated him from his wife and sons.

When he retired from the academy, the academy canceled his retirement benefits by changing his retirement request into a resignation from his position.

His second son qualified for acceptance into the Armed Force Academy in July 2007, but the academy refused to accept him because of Mr. Zhang's belief. The political director of the academy told Mr. Zhang's wife that they would accept their son only if the couple divorced. For the future of their son, the couple filed for divorce. However, the academy still refused to accept his son.

Because of the communist regime's propaganda demonizing Falun Gong, Mr. Zhang and his family went through years of humiliation and were alienated by their friends, relatives and colleagues.

Background

In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.

The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners in the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.

Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.

Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
