Policemen Refuse to Imprison Falun Gong Practitioners

Jan. 16, 2016 |   By a Falun Gong practitioner in Hebei Province, China

(Minghui.org) On the afternoon of December 25, 2015, five Falun Gong practitioners distributed calendars containing information about the meditation practice at a busy park in Hebei Province. They talked to people about quitting the Chinese Communist Party and its youth organizations. Within an hour, many agreed to quit the Party, the Youth League, and Young Pioneers.

A woman reported the practitioners to the police. A traffic officer brought his team over, arrested the five practitioners, and took them to the nearby Chengguan Police Station.

When one of the policemen heard that it was Falun Gong practitioners who had been arrested, he waved his hands and said, “No, we won't keep them.” The traffic officer asked why. He answered, “No means no. If you want to, you can take them to some other station.” The traffic officer got angry and started arguing with the officer who wanted to release the practitioners. Ultimately, the traffic officer left in disappointment.

The five practitioners talked with the policemen at the station. One practitioner said, “Falun Gong has been wronged. Falun Gong practitioners follow Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance to be good people. Jiang Zemin's persecution violates the laws, the Constitution, and international human rights conventions. Those who participate in the persecution will be brought to justice.” The policemen answered, “Yes, we know.”

Two of the practitioners were released that very day. The other three were sent to a detention center for what the officer described as "a formality" and were later released.
