(Minghui.org) I would like to share a story about a kind and honest entrepreneur.
I was detained for two weeks in 2004 because I practiced Falun Gong. That entrepreneur went to the local Political and Legal Affairs Committee to ask the Party secretary to release me because I was innocent. There were many visitors in the office that day, and he criticized the Party secretary in front of all of them. That evening, he visited the Party secretary again at his home and had a long talk with him.
The secretary told him, “We can release anybody else, even murderers, but not Falun Gong practitioners. I will work on it, though.”
I was told that the Party secretary went to the police department and told them to release me. I believe that he was rewarded for his good deed, because a few months later he was promoted.
There is an old proverb that reminds us not to forget those who have helped us. So every New Year my wife and I went to visit the entrepreneur. He did very well in his business. He was a large man with a booming voice. He was very popular locally, and his living room was full of gifts and flowers from acquaintances who had visited.
He would sometimes comment on society's decline. For example, one year his relatives and friends gave him seven cartons of organic eggs. Although there should have been about 100 eggs in one box alone, there were only about 130 eggs altogether. The eggs were given to him by different people, so it was unlikely that only one vendor had cheated his or her customers. It meant that many vendors were cheating their customers, which he said was evidence that the moral standard had bottomed out.
Every year we gave the entrepreneur a Shen Yun DVD. He also read the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, but he still worshiped the previous Chinese Communist Party (CCP) leader, Mao Zedong, and did not want to quit the Party.
Three years ago his life was turned upside down.
This kind man had helped many people, including his relatives. He had also trained many salespeople and helped them advance in his business. But some of his salespeople and relatives staged a takeover of his business. These were all people he had helped.
To pay off the debts he incurred due to the takeover, he had to sell his house, and he moved back to his hometown. He could not understand why people that he had helped so much would do such bad things to him.
My wife and I went to visit him again on the 2015 New Year. He was very pleased to see us. He said that we did not have to come see him every year, because he now lived so far from us. His situation appeared pretty bad. His clothes were old, and he was very thin. We could tell that he hadn't had any visitors.
We talked about health and about life. He asked how my mother-in-law was doing. My mother-in-law used to suffer leg pain and headaches. All her pain disappeared after she practiced Falun Gong. She did not have to take any medication for more than ten years. She is 91 years old and very healthy.
The entrepreneur and his wife observed what Falun Gong practitioners were like through these interactions with us. We went to visit them every year, no matter how busy we were, for the past 11 years.
When we left, he walked us a long way from his home. He held our hands and did not want us to leave. We told him to take good care of himself. We gave him a flyer about Falun Gong and asked him to quit the CCP again, and this time he agreed.
He said he believed what we said because he had seen that we only had good intentions, and he believed our master would bless him and help him overcome his difficulties.
On our way home, my wife said, “He has been saved, finally, after 11 years. He still believes that there are good people in the world, even after what happened to him. Our efforts were worthwhile.”
