Pay Attention to Others’ Feelings When Clarifying the Truth

Jan. 9, 2016 |   By Jing Zhen

(Minghui.org) Dafa practitioners, amid their own capabilities and environments, try their best to clarify the truth and validate the Fa.

The purpose of our truth-clarification is to help people learn and understand the facts about Falun Dafa; to dispel the effects of the propaganda they have been subjected to reading China's state-run media.

As we clarify the truth and validate the Fa, we should put ourselves in the other person’s shoes. In everything we do and each sentence we say, we must consider the impact on those around us, including their thoughts and feelings.

We must consider the positions they are in, what their attachments are, and how they might react to what we say. We cannot blindly do whatever we think is right and great. If we were to do so, it would likely lead some people to lose the opportunity to be saved, or they may even believe the opposite.

Think of the great care and compassion that Master shows in dealing with us. We should use what we have learned from Master in our dealings with others. Only by doing so can we validate the Fa and do all that we are capable of in assisting Master’s Fa-rectification.

Let me talk about something specific. There are many residential areas in our cities. Some practitioners put up truth-clarification materials on the railings of residential buildings and on electrical poles. They might use stickers or even spray paint. The purpose of this approach is to raise awareness about Falun Dafa and the persecution.

Yet, don't we need to think about it carefully before doing so? The job of security guards and cleaning staff in these residential areas is to clean everything within their designated property, including advertisements posted on the poles. If we put our materials in these places, what will they do then? It is their job to clean them. This would be OK if all of them are already aware of the truth, from the upper to the lower levels. However, if they do not know the truth, aren’t we being inconsiderate of those who do the cleaning and maintenance work in the community? As time goes by, what will they think about us? Doesn't this end up antagonizing them?

Perhaps a better approach is this: We can first clarify the truth to the service personnel in the residential areas. If they give us permission after learning the facts, then we can put up the materials. At the same time, we can design our materials to be better looking, and people will feel they are more pleasing when they see them. Wouldn't this satisfy both sides?

Of course, there are many other aspects to be considered, and I have just given an example. We should of course strive to get better and better and reach the standard required by Master. We should be more mature and antagonize fewer people.

I have seen this issue for some time and decided to point it out after I read Master’s comment “You Are Antagonizing People, Not Saving Them” today, which touched me very much. I hope this sharing will be helpful to practitioners so we can encourage each other.

This is my limited understanding. Please correct anything that is inappropriate.
