(Minghui.org) Mr. Xu Jinqiao was at work on October 9 when police officers appeared and took him into custody. The Sinopec Zhongyuan Oilfield employee was targeted because he sued former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin for initiating the persecution of Falun Gong.
Mr. Xu credits Falun Gong with helping him quit smoking and drinking and improving his relationship with his wife. He said he also became a more dedicated worker as he followed the Falun Gong principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance in conducting himself.
As no law in China criminalizes Falun Gong, Mr. Xu never shied away from telling people about the persecution of the spiritual discipline. His efforts were met with police retaliation.
He was first targeted in November 2005 when someone reported him to police for talking to his colleagues about Falun Gong. A group of agents seized him at work and took him home to confiscate his Falun Gong materials.
The police next sent Mr. Xu to a local brainwashing center, where they tried to make him renounce Falun Gong by threatening him with job termination and imprisonment. He stood his ground and was denied family visits.
Mr. Xu filed his criminal complaint against Jiang in July 2015 and holds Jiang responsible for his ordeal in the brainwashing center. The police arrested him again at his workplace in October 2016.
In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.
The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners over the past 17 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.
Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.
Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
