(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Li Junfeng, Ms. Cheng Yuying, Ms. Xiao Lianhong, and Ms. Su Wei were illegally arrested in Beijing. Two of them have been sentenced to prison.
Mr. Li was arrested by officers from the Anzhen Police Station, who also ransacked his home on December 29, 2015. He was later sentenced to four years in prison by Chaoyang District Court. Mr. Li appealed his sentence, but the intermediate court upheld the original verdict.
Mr. Li's 76-year-old mother was in a car accident on February 16, 2016 and fractured her bones, including her skull. She is now bedridden and drifts in and out of consciousness. Mr. Li's family requested his release on bail to care for his mother. The authorities denied their request and also said that he would not be allowed to visit his mother even if she were near death.
Ms. Chen from Shenggu Village, Chaoyang District took a taxi to visit her relatives in Huairou County in Beijing on the morning of November 17, 2014. On the way to Beijing, she told the taxi driver about Falun Gong and the persecution by the communist regime. Instead of taking her to her destination, the taxi driver drove directly to the Huairou Police Station, resulting in her arrest. The Huairou police officers and the local police ransacked Ms. Chen's home that afternoon.
Ms. Cheng was later sentenced to three years in Beijing Women's Prison.
Ms. Xiao was summoned to the Dongba Police Station in Chaoyang District in the morning of July 21, 2016. Upon arrival, she was immediately arrested and taken to the Chaoyang District Detention Center. The No. 1 Branch of Beijing Procuratorate did not approve her arrest until August 26, 2016.
While held in the detention center, Ms. Xiao began to feel ill. Ms. Xiao's attorney has submitted an appeal for her to be released on medical parole.
Ms. Su was arrested by eight plainclothes officers from Fengtai District Police Department on July 21, 2016 and held in the Fengtai District Detention Center. The Beijing City First Procuratorate approved her arrest on August 26, 2016. Ms. Su's attorney has submitted an appeal for her release.
