Be Mindful of Our Image During Group Exercise Demonstrations

Oct. 22, 2016 |   By a Falun Dafa practitioner outside of China

(Minghui.org) When we have activities to let people know about Falun Dafa, our exercise demonstrations usually attract a lot of attention. Many people stop to watch and take pictures or videos, and some post what they have taken onto a variety of social media platforms, which is what we like to see.

For this reason, it is important to pay close attention to our form and demeanor when we do the exercises in public. All too often our movements are not correct, and sometimes we appear lackluster during the demonstrations, which can have a negative affect on Dafa's image.

When we first begin to demonstrate the exercises, our movements are fluid and in sync. But when the weather is hot, we sometimes tire and our movements as a group are no longer in unison. And then the expressions on our faces are a far cry from the requirement to “Maintain a serene expression on the face.” (The Great Way of Spiritual Perfection).

Sometimes we notice our mistakes and correct ourselves, but, overall, such problems occur frequently. Sometimes when we do the sitting meditation, we begin to slump, or our hands droop. Some practitioners adjust their postures themselves or when other practitioners remind them, but a few minutes later, they slump again.

Because we are of different ages, heights, weights, and ethnic groups, our movements cannot be exactly the same.

Nevertheless, we should try to follow the standards as much as possible to do the exercises well and correct ourselves. This is one of our responsibilities as Falun Dafa practitioners. A serene and peaceful appearance will convey the good health and harmony that Dafa has brought us, and observers will go away with a positive impression of us.

From a compassionate point of view, we should all do better in this regard. Most of the people we meet during our promotional activities do not have a clear understanding of Dafa, and this may be their only chance to see practitioners doing the exercises. If we do not do well, many people will leave with negative impressions that might prevent them from being saved. Pictures of us doing poorly could also be used by people who have ulterior motives to discredit Falun Dafa.

After distributing materials and talking to people for a long time, some practitioners get tired. They say to each another, "You do the exercises and have a rest." Their intention is good, and taking turns to do the exercises is understandable. Doing the exercises is better than sleep and helps one recover from fatigue.

But we cannot forget that the reason we do exercise demonstrations is a way of spreading Dafa, not to rest. This is a very serious matter. When our movements are sloppy, what are we presenting? If we remember that we do the exercises in public to spread the Fa, we will pay attention to our image.

Let us work together to coordinate our exercise movements and pay attention to the image we present to the public so that we can do honor to the image of Dafa and save people more effectively.
