Liaoning Woman Faces Charges for Making Calls to Tell Public About Persecution of Falun Gong

Oct. 28, 2016 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Liaoning Province, China

(Minghui.org) A Dandong City resident was arrested on August 28 for making phone calls to the public and telling them about the communist regime's persecution of Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline based on the principle of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.

Ms. Wang Yu’s family visited Zhenxing Procuratorate twice upon learning that she had been formally arrested on September 2 and now faces indictment for her faith.

The receptionist at the procuratorate refused to connect Ms. Wang’s family with the person in charge of her case when they visited the first time on October 12. A person surnamed Fan from the Appeals Office in the agency received the family instead. Fan claimed that the authorities had the power to keep Ms. Yang detained for as long as they wished.

The family returned to the procuratorate on October 19. This time, they were granted a meeting with the person in charge, Zhang Youli. They told Zhang that Ms. Wang broke no law by talking to people about Falun Gong because the People’s Congress has never enacted any law banning the practice.

Zhang replied that the police-prepared case document stated that Ms. Wang was once given forced labor for her faith and that she was at a higher risk of “re-offense.” Her family stated that her previous incarceration was based on falsified charges and that she should never have been prosecuted for her faith.
