(Minghui.org) An elderly Falun Gong practitioner came close to being disfigured outside Nanjinlu Police Station in Sichuan Province after a police officer sprayed him with a toxic substance that burned his flesh.
Mr. Liao Banggui, a Falun Gong practitioner in his early 70s, went to the police station on October 17, 2016, to request the return of Falun Gong books and a photograph of Master Li Hongzhi, Falun Gong's founder, that had been confiscated on September 21, 2016.
Three officers pushed Mr. Liao out of the station. One of them got a spray canister and sprayed Mr. Liao in the face.
Mr. Liao turned his head to avoid the spray, but it hit him behind his right ear. He felt a burning, itchy sensation and tried to wipe the spray off, but then he started to bleed. The blood seeped down his neck onto the collar of his shirt.

An officer noticed and shouted, “He's bleeding!” The three officers ran back into the station.
Mr. Liao showed his wound to several people nearby and explained what the police had done to him. He then went to a photo shop to get pictures taken to serve as evidence of the police officer's crime.
This was the fifth time that Mr. Liao had gone to the police station to request the return of his Falun Gong books and Master Li's photo.
Practitioners Ms. Pu Suiting, 76, and Ms. Tan Jiqing, 77, from Suining City were distributing informational materials about Falun Gong on September 21, 2016, when they were arrested by officers from the Fuyuanlu Police Station.
Seven officers, three of them females, from the Nanjinlu Police Station ransacked Ms. Pu's home that afternoon. About nine elderly practitioners were studying the Falun Gong teachings together in Ms. Pu’s home at the time. The police confiscated 15 copies of Zhuan Falun, a photo of Master Li, and 95 yuan. The items have still not been returned.
Twenty-six Falun Gong practitioners went to Nanjinlu Police Station to request the return of their Falun Gong books and Master Li's photo on September 28, 2016. Five went into the station to talk about Falun Gong.
When the officers, a male and a female, heard the practitioners' request, they became enraged and started to curse Falun Gong. They told the practitioners to go to the Domestic Security Division. The practitioners replied that it was officers from Nanjinlu Police Station who had taken their Falun Gong books. The police then told them to go to the Neighborhood Association, so the practitioners left the building.
More than 30 practitioners went to the police station to request the return of the books again on October 8, 2016.
Mr. Liao, Ms. Pu, and Ms. Tan tried to go upstairs to find chief Jiang. The officer on duty asked them why they wanted to see Jiang. One of the practitioners told him that they came to request the return of their books. The officer started to curse Falun Gong.
More than 10 officers came rushing out from the back of the station and pushed the practitioners out of the building. Mr. Liao told the police that good would be rewarded with good and evil punished. He asked the police not to persecute good people anymore.
One officer started to video Mr. Liao. A practitioner told the officers that it was useless to record them. The policeman turned the camera off.
Mr. Liao kept clarifying the truth about Falun Gong to the officers throughout the ordeal. They ignored him and threatened, “If you come back again, you will be arrested!”
