Father Dies in Car Accident On Way to Seek Daughter's Release

Nov. 7, 2016 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Shandong Province, China

(Minghui.org) “My daughter has been wrongly accused. My daughter has been wrongly accused,” said Ms. Xin Xiumei's 80-year-old father. He missed his daughter terribly and repeated those words all day.

Officers from the Baishilu Police Station in Yantai City arrested Ms. Xin in May 2016 when she talked to people about Falun Gong. Her home was ransacked, and she was detained in the Yantai Detention Center.

The family hired a lawyer to defend Ms. Xin. She pled not guilty. The lawyer and her family members managed to persuade the Zhifu District Procuratorate to return the case to the Baishilu Police station.

Ms. Xin's elderly father insisted on going to the police department to secure his daughter release. Sadly, because he was mentally confused he had a car accident on the way and died on September 29, 2016.

Ms. Xin has been illegally detained for about six months and is still unaware of her father's death.

Several family members went to the Baishilu Police Station and the Zhifu District Police Department on September 30, 2016. They asked to have Ms. Xin paroled so that she could express a farewell to her father. The chief of the department agreed. But the 610 Office and Zhifu District Domestic Security captain Wang Guozhu refused the request. Ms. Xin was denied the chance to see her father one last time.
