(Minghui.org) A few days ago, my husband received a phone call from his former employer, who asked him for a visit.
When he returned, my husband told me that he had officially quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) at his workplace. A few years ago, he had already quit the Party via the Epoch Times website.
I asked him what had happened. He said, “They asked me to fill out a statistics form for Party members. I told them clearly that I did not want to be a member anymore, and that I wanted to quit.”
The person in charge said, “If you do not want to be a member, you need to write a statement, and we will forward it to our director. Only then will it count.” My husband did so without reservation.
Two of his colleagues, who are also retired, were there for the same reason. When they heard what my husband said, they both said that they wanted to quit as well. They copied my husband's statement and submitted it. I said, “Everyone should feel free to join the Party or quit it. No need to give a reason.” My husband became serious and said, “I wanted to quit. I certainly do have a reason.” I did not ask him what he had written in his statement.
During the last two years, my husband has changed a lot.
We bought a computer three years ago. He does not practice Falun Gong, but he browses Minghui.org every day. His way of thinking has changed dramatically.
Previously, he was scared of the persecution. His fear is almost gone now, and he is dignified, straightforward, and honest. For example, one agent from my workplace came to our home to inquire about me filling a criminal complaint against the former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin. My husband told them that he supported my act. In fact, he was the first one to sign the document reporting Jiang's crimes. He also told our neighbors, friends, and relatives that it is wrong to persecute Falun Gong.
