(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners held an event to raise awareness of the persecution on April 30 at Victoria Mall in North Sydney.
They set up banners and display boards around an information desk, which told visitors about the wonderful benefits of the Falun Gong practice and the brutal persecution being carried out by the Chinese communist regime.
Many passers-by stopped to inquire about the CCP's organ harvesting of living victims and signed the petition to support Falun Gong and to call for an end to the persecution.
Falun Gong practitioners raising awareness in Sydney
Japanese student Misaki Ohashi has been watching the persecution in China with deep concern.
Misaki is a Japanese student studying social sciences at Macquarie University. She told practitioners, “I’m very interested in the human rights situation in China, and I often search for information online. I was so shocked when I saw reports on the Chinese regime harvesting Falun Gong practitioners’ organs. It’s so horrendous and hard to believe.”
“In the civilized world of the 21st century, in a big country like China, there still exists such cruel persecution,” Misaki said. “It’s so wrong for the Chinese communist regime to harvest organs from living Falun Gong practitioners and sell them for profit. I intend to write a social investigation report on the topic.”
Misaki said that she would join the Falun Gong practitioners in their efforts against the persecution and would help other people learn the facts so that more people would help bring the persecution to an end. “The sooner the persecution stops, the better!” Misaki said to practitioners.
She also thanked the practitioners for their efforts in striving for basic human rights and justice, and said that she had learned a lot from their peaceful endeavor.
“I will tell my friends in Japan so that more people will stand up and say to the Chinese communist government: Stop! You must not persecute Falun Gong anymore!” said Misaki.
Local residents Shirley and Tim Briggs were equally shocked to learn about the organ harvesting.
Falun Gong practitioner Helen Chen told them about her own ordeal back in China, when she was incarcerated for her belief. She described how six police officers held her down to take blood samples and forced her to have her kidneys, liver, lungs and heart checked, most likely for organ matching purposes.
She said that she was very lucky to have escaped, but tens of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners are still being detained and subjected to organ harvesting.
Shirley and Tim told her, “It’s very important to expose the persecution of Falun Gong.” They also told practitioners that they would put information about Falun Gong on their Facebook pages and other social media.
Tim added, “The Chinese Communist Party is a dictatorship. They try to control people’s minds by blocking websites and brainwashing. They should know that this is so wrong.”
