Younger Brother Tortured to Death, Older Brother Detained and Tortured

June 28, 2016

(Minghui.org) Mr. Yu Chunbo, a farmer, is suing former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin for launching the persecution of Falun Gong that resulted in his detention in a forced labor camp. His younger bother, Mr. Yu Chunhai, was tortured to death at the age of 32 in a labor camp because he refused to give up his faith at the demands of the communist authorities.

Mr. Yu Chunbo, 43, is from Changde Village, Guangming Town, Yushu City, Jilin Province. He filed a criminal complaint against Jiang Zemin on June 15, 2015.

Below is Mr. Yu's personal account of his ordeals.

Business Ruined

I started to practice Falun Dafa in the spring of 1997 and benefited both physically and mentally.

In the spring of 2000, I invested over 10,000 yuan to grow mushrooms. My business was very successful, and many farmers wanted to join me. Unfortunately, Yushu City police officers, carrying out Jiang Zemin’s persecution policy, tried to arrest me.

It was at the end of October 2000. I was working on my farm when the police broke in. Protected by other villagers, I escaped but had to leave my home to avoid future persecution. I had to close my business. The loss was huge.

Sent to Forced Labor Camp for Appealing for Falun Gong

At the end of 2000, when I went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong, I was picked up and taken to Huairou Detention Center. The police beat me brutally because I refused to tell them my name.

Two guards once tortured me for 12 hours. They grabbed me by my hair, slammed my head up against a wall, and then beat me with an impact wrench. They kicked me all over. In the end, I was black and blue and couldn't walk.

I was sent back to Yushu City and detained in the city detention center, where I was brutally tortured again. Later I was sent to Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Center for two years.

Tortured in Forced Labor Camp

Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Center was officially designated as a brainwashing center by the Jilin Province government in December 2000. All male Falun Gong practitioners from different forced labor camps were sent to this brainwashing center.

More than 400 practitioners were detained there between April 5 and April 9, 2001. All of them were tortured.

Five or six guards once shocked me with electric batons for an entire day. They took turns hitting me with the electric batons, and then shocked my neck, face, and mouth. They took off all my clothes and kicked me. If I passed out, they threw water on me to revive me and continued torturing me.

We were forced to do hard labor. Every day, we had to move dirt using carts. Sometimes we had to do one round a minute, 800 rounds a day. We were pushed to the limit. We had to pull weeds, harvest vegetables, etc. We had to work all the time. Even my hands were full of scabies.

But I was fortunate: I left the forced labor camp alive.

Younger Brother Tortured to Death

Yu Chunhai was Yu Chunbo's younger brother. He also practiced Falun Gong and was tortured for refusing to give up his belief. When he died as a result of torture, he was only 32 years old.

Background

In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.

The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners over the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.

Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.

Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
