Ms. Zhang was arrested on May 9, and her rental place was ransacked shortly afterwards. The police confiscated her Falun Gong books, truth-clarification materials, printer, computer, and a significant amount of cash. They also forced her landlord to cancel her lease before it expired.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Chai Junxia was tried on charges of undermining law enforcement.
Two lawyers defended her innocence at the trial on June 13. They emphasized that there is no law in China that criminalizes Falun Gong; hence the persecution of this spiritual discipline was illegal from the onset.
The lawyers argued their client should never have been charged for exercising her constitutional right to freedom of belief.
Moreover, Ms. Chai has every right to seek justice against former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin for initiating the persecution 17 years ago. Therefore, her criminal complaint against Jiang is lawful and must not be used as evidence against her.
Ms. Chai also testified that her practice of Falun Gong harms no one, let alone does it undermine law enforcement.
The same judge that sentenced Ms. Chai to to 4 years for her faith in 2008 presided over this June trial. He adjourned the session without issuing a verdict.
Ms. Chai remains in detention following her arrest on December 14, 2016.
Mr. Deng Jianhui was sentenced to six years’ imprisonment and extorted for 60,000 yuan.
