(Minghui.org) For years, I have explained Falun Dafa and the persecution to many people every day. I distribute informational materials and DVDs and talk to people when I can.
I first heard about Falun Dafa in March 2007. After learning more about it, I was attracted to its principles, which went far beyond those of other practices.
After I began practicing Falun Dafa, I recovered from a number of illnesses, such as high blood pressure, long-term chronic inflammation of the pharynx, irregular heartbeat, and blurred vision. My face looked haggard, and I was afraid to look into a mirror.
Dafa made me turn over a new leaf. I let go of a lot of bad habits, such as selfishness, fighting, vanity, and jealousy.
The day I decided to learn Falun Dafa, my husband stared at me, got angry and said, “You are going to destroy our family, aren’t you? You don’t want to get a pension after retirement, do you?”
I looked at him and said that I actually wanted everything he just said. He wanted to know why I wasn’t worried about being arrested.
“Why should I worry about the police?” I said. “I'm doing the exercises because I want to be healthy (my understanding at that time), be a good person, and follow Dafa’s principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance.”
His concerns stemmed from his knowledge of the persecution. Some of his colleagues had been arrested, had their wages reduced, or were fined for practicing Falun Dafa. I had no answer for him, but I was certain that I would not give up Dafa.
After I collected my thoughts, I told him that everybody where he worked had recovered from far more serious illnesses than mine within a short time after taking up the practice. Not only that, but they changed their behaviors and turned into good people. I asked him if he had a better solution for the ills of society.
“Zhuan Falun, the main book of Dafa, is a divine book,” I said. “It teaches people to follow the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, and it is instrumental in elevating one's character. Why don't we read the book together, so you can gain a better understanding?”
He showed no interest in reading, but said I could do the exercises at home.
To this day, my daily routine consists of taking care of the household chores, doing the five Dafa exercises, sending righteous thoughts, reciting Master’s Hong Yin, and then going out to talk to people about Dafa, the persecution, and quitting the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). I also make truth-clarification calls with my mobile phone in the afternoon.
In the evening, I read one lecture in Zhuan Falun, and, if time permits, I either listen to lectures recorded by Master or study his other teachings.
Master said:
“I often say that if all a person wants is the well-being of others and if this is without the slightest personal motivation or personal understanding, what he says will move the listener to tears.” (“Clearheadedness” from Essentials For Further Advancement)
Before I leave home to clarify the truth, I send righteous thoughts. This helps me clear my mind, let go of fear, and keep calm.
I have helped many people announce their withdrawals from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its associated organizations. Most of the time, people will listen and accept what I say with a smile. A few, however, will denigrate me.
When I fail to do well in speaking with people, I look within after I get home. I seek a way to make my words clearer and more acceptable. Questions raised by people with different attitudes help me to address issues and improve my wisdom.
During one of my truth-clarification calls, I got a text message asking me to identify myself. I responded with a call, but I was told that I was in trouble. The person then asked, “Do you know who I am?”
I had no idea who he was, but I said, “I am worthy of your trust because I follow the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.”
I also talked about the criminal complaints being filed against Jiang Zemin, the former head of the Chinese communist regime who initiated its violent campaign against Falun Dafa.
“Think about it,” I said. “Why have so many people inside and outside of China filed cases against Jiang Zemin? All they want is to tell those who lack an understanding of the truth to stop associating with the Chinese Communist Party.”
My mind was clear about what I to say. He needed to know the principle that doing good will be rewarded, while doing evil will be punished.
“Heaven will not tolerate the crimes being committed against good people,” I said. “Especially the harvesting of organs from living Falun Dafa practitioners, which then are sold for profits.”
I added that his tone of voice told me that he was not an ordinary person, nor was he an ordinary life.
He hung up. I was disappointed, but he sent me a text message a little later. He wrote, “I now understand what you were trying to tell me. Please tell me how I can quit the CCP.”
Over time, I've learned that I have to stay calm, rational, kind, and friendly, rather than impulsive when I connect with people who are smug.
One day, a man approached me and said that he was a police officer. He said he would arrest me if I talked about Dafa in his jurisdiction. He suggested that I just stay home and watch my grandchildren.
I got nervous but then realized that a feeling of insecurity is wrong for a practitioner. I sent righteous thoughts and calmed down.
I stayed calm, but my response was firm: “A police officer must also learn the truth, because he or she also has a spouse, children, parents, brothers, or sisters. Gods won’t give you a break because you are a police officer, but they may still give you the opportunity to repent for doing wrong for the evil Party.”
When I listed the reasons for quitting the CCP, he kept nodding and then said he would share with his family what I told him.
Before moving on, he urged me to take extra care when telling people about Dafa. I asked him to not arrest practitioners in the future. “They are just like me–kind, considerate people who are only interested in the well-being of others.”
“What nonsense are you talking about,” one man said after I approached him. “You talk about Gods and ghosts? Have you seen the God you are talking about? Isn’t this just stupid superstition?”
“It’s understandable that you don’t believe in the existence of Gods because you can't see them,” I said. “But the most valuable thing in life is to become a wise person who can tell right from wrong and good from bad.”
After that, he did not need further explanation and agreed to quit the Party.
Sometimes when I run into Christians or other religious people, I first express my respect for their faith.
“I have no objection to your faith,” I say, “but I must be responsible. So I tell you that, although you claim to have your own faith, you can’t really believe in God or Buddha after you've joined the CCP. It's an atheist organization. Strictly speaking, this shows disrespect to God or Buddha, as well as disloyalty to your faith.”
Throughout the years, I've talked to many different types of people about Dafa, from government officials and university students to civil servants and lawyers. My efforts have made a great dent in the population opposing Dafa.
The persecution—however much it may have let up in some areas—is still rampant, and practitioners still suffer greatly. We must therefore continue in our efforts to inform people inside and outside of China the truth about Dafa.
