(Minghui.org) International society has become aware of a recent incident where Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Zhiwen, who has been illegally imprisoned and persecuted in China for over 15 years, was barred from leaving China to reunite with his family in the United States.

Mr. Alex Neve, chairman of Amnesty International Canada, told the media that the Chinese government should allow Mr. Wang to leave China.

Mr. Wang Zhiwen, a coordinator of the Falun Dafa Association (in Beijing, China), was arrested on July 20, 1999, when the former leader of China, Jiang Zemin, launched the persecution.

Mr. Wang has always been on the list of names that the China League gives to the Canadian government to be freed since his arrest, through Canadian government's negotiations with China. China League is a joint force of many human rights organizations including Amnesty International.

Mr. Neve said, “Members of China League are worried about his situation. We learned that Wang Zhiwen was stopped by the Chinese border control on his way to reunite with his daughter in the United States.”

He said the league asked the Canadian government to be more proactive in rescuing Mr. Wang Zhiwen, “We appealed to the Canadian government to lend support to Mr. Wang again, and urge the Chinese government to lift the travel ban.”
