(Minghui.org) Ms. Yang Fujing, 57, from Ninghe County, Tianjin was arrested in August 2015 for distributing informational materials about the persecution of Falun Gong. She was tried in January 2016 and sentenced to three-and-a-half-years in prison in April.

Ms. Yang appealed her sentence. Without holding a trial or notifying her family or lawyer, the court made a ruling to uphold her sentence. She was transferred to Tianjin Women's Prison on July 6, 2016.

Prison authorities recently notified Ms. Yang's family that they needed to bring money to the prison to pay for her treatment.

When her family went to visit her, they saw that she was severely ill and on an IV. She was also emaciated, had high blood sugar, and was suffering from a bacterial infection.

Her family asked that she be paroled for medical treatment, but the prison authorities refused. Instead, they told the family to pay 5000 yuan for her to be treated in the prison.
