Aug. 6, 2016 |   By a Minghui correspondent from Heilongjiang Province, China

(Minghui.org) Ever since the persecution of Falun Gong began in July 1999, practitioners have been tortured in the detention centers in Qiqihar. Detention center officials and guards have employed handcuffs and shackles, force-feeding, beatings, and denial of visitation.

Handcuffs and Shackles

Ms. Wang Jingjie, a practitioner from Fuyu County, Heilongjiang Province, was taken to Qiqihar City Second Detention Center on December 11, 2012. When she was on a hunger strike, she was forced to kneel and then handcuffed behind her back. The handcuffs and shackles were then tied together with wire. She was barely able to move.

When Ms. Wang refused to wear a uniform to protest, she was handcuffed and shackled again, but this time they were tied together in the front. She was tortured for more than 16 hours in this position.

Ms. Chen Hong from Qiqihar was taken to Qiqihar City Detention Center on October 24, 2014. She was put in handcuffs and shackles weighing more than 40 pounds and couldn’t stand up straight. Later she was force-fed and injected with unknown drugs during her hunger strike. In a short while she was nothing more than skin and bones.

Ms. Li Aiying was sent to the Qiqihar City Detention Center on September 28, 2015. Because she refused to wear an inmate uniform, she was beaten. Her back was injured. Then they put 60-pound shackles and handcuffs on her.

The next day, she was dragged on the floor to and from the interrogation room. She was on the verge of death 20 days later and released on October 24, 2015.

Ms. Yu Guimin was detained in Qiqihar Detention Center on May 1, 2015. She was beaten, handcuffed, and forced to wear shackles weighing more than 80 pounds. The handcuffs were taken off two days later, but she had to wear the shackles for two solid weeks.

Ms. Qu Shurong was sent to Qiqihar City Detention Center on November 8, 2015. She was not allowed to go to the restroom and had to wet herself. She was sometimes handcuffed and shackled, and she lost a lot of weight.

Ms. Li Guixiang was arrested and taken to the Qiqihar City Detention Center on November 23, 2015. She was put in handcuffs and shackles for calling out “Falun Dafa is good.” Her handcuffs and shackles were tied together, and she was unable to eat or go to the restroom by herself.

Force-Feeding

Ms. Yan Liju was taken to Qiqihar City Detention Center on September 21, 2014. She was put in heavy shackles weighing more than 50 pounds for more than five hours. She went on a hunger strike four days later, and was taken to the hospital for force-feeding. The tube that was inserted down her throat made her vomit and have trouble breathing. She was tied to the bed around the clock. She was in critical condition 10 days later and had to have emergency treatment. She was sent home the next day, on October 2, 2014.

Denial of Visitation

Ms. Li Dongmei was sent to Qiqihar City Detention Center on March 27, 2016. Since she refused to comply with the detention center rules, her husband and sister were not allowed to see her when they came to visit. They were also turned away the second time they tried to see her.

When Ms. Zhan Shufen refused to submit to a blood test after she was sentenced, her husband, in his 70s, and her daughter were not allowed to visit her before she was transferred to prison.
