(Minghui.org) The number of criminal complaints being filed against former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin for persecuting Falun Gong has escalated since last May, and the movement continues to gain momentum. Below are updates from several cities in China.

Tangshan City, Hebei Province

As of January, about 40,000 residents in Tangshan City, Hebei Province, reported Jiang's crimes with over 30,000 signatures supporting the lawsuits. In the past six months, another 78,361 people have turned in their lawsuits, and 21,918 more residents signed petitions favoring the lawsuits against Jiang.

“Jiang has done all kinds of bad things, from signing secret treaties selling China's land for his own interests to accelerating the moral degeneration of our society,” said one resident surnamed Tian, “He should have been arrested and brought to justice a long time ago.”

Nearly 80,000 Tangshan City residents have filed their lawsuits citing Jiang's crimes in the last six months.

Minghui received more than 20,000 signatures in support of the lawsuits.

Another resident, Mr. Wang, agreed. He said Jiang must face the consequences for the wrong he has done. “The problems he created in China led to disasters overseas.”

Jiang assumed the top communist leader position in 1989 after leading the Tiananmen Massacre. He banned Falun Gong in 1999 and instituted the nationwide persecution policy. Although Jiang retired several years later, his regime and followers have continued to carry out that policy and mistreat Falun Gong practitioners even today.

Mishan City, Heilongjiang Province

Minghui has recently received 2,039 signatures from Mishan City, Heilongjiang Province, supporting the effort to sue Jiang. “Jiang has made a mess of the country and harmed Chinese people,” wrote one man.

After one elderly resident signed, she called her son, who works in another city, and told him about it. Her son agreed with her and asked her to sign the letter on his behalf to sue Jiang.

Qingdao City, Shandong Province

Based on information received by Minghui on August 2, another 522 residents in Qingdao City, Shandong Province, joined the effort to report on Jiang's crimes.

One man in his 60s said Jiang was “rotten to the core. He and the communist party have sunk below the bottom line.”

Evidence has surfaced since 2006 that organs have been harvested from living Falun Gong practitioners in China. It is estimated that about a million practitioners have become forced organ harvesting victims according to independent investigations published in June.

Wanzai County, Jiangxi Province

Since July, 161 signatures have been received from Wanzai County, Jiangxi Province, a remote region in southeastern China.

“I know what Jiang has done and I fully support the effort to sue him,” said a former village head.

“Please help me sign a letter,” said one illiterate woman. “I cannot write, but I have to do this because of my conscience.”

“Jiang has done such terrible wrongs, especially in persecuting innocent Falun Gong practitioners and the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance,” said a Bonsai store owner. “We cannot let this continue.”
