Art Teacher Arrested Again for His Faith

Aug. 9, 2016 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Ningxia Autonomous Region

(Minghui.org) A Yongning County resident has been formally arrested on July 20 for resisting the persecution of Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline based on the principle of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.

Mr. Jiang Tao was driving his taxi home on June 15 when police pulled him over and took him into custody. The arresting officers suspected that Mr. Jiang was responsible for hanging up banners with messages about the persecution of Falun Gong along the main avenue in town.

This is not the first time that Mr. Jiang has been targeted for his faith. The 43-year-old man was sentenced to 3.5 years in 2001. Only one year after his release, he was arrested again and given 5.5 years in prison.

Mr. Jiang was also fired from his job as an art teacher at Zenggang Middle School and became a taxi driver to make ends meet following his release in 2010.

Mr. Jiang’s family still remembers how he was made to load and unload bricks for more than ten hours every day during his imprisonment. They are extremely concerned about his well-being now that he faces possible indictment again.
