Shandong Woman Assaulted by Police after Being Arrested for Her Faith

Sept. 10, 2016 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Shandong Province

(Minghui.org) An Anqiu City resident was assaulted by a police officer after being arrested for talking to people about Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.

Ms. Zhang Guiqiu pleaded for the officer to stop, but he yelled in response, “I just enjoy beating Falun Gong [practitioners]!”

Ms. Zhang still had visible bruises on her face and leg after she was released the next day.

Police Assault and Failed Attempts to Detain Her

Ms. Zhang was interrogated at Dawenhe Police Station after she was seized by police on September 3, 2016. She refused to disclose where she got her informational materials about Falun Gong or consent to fingerprinting.

The police chief then dispatched four officers to drive Ms. Zhang to Anqiu City Police Department to secure a fingerprint stamp to get her detained.

While two officers went inside, the other two watched Ms. Zhang inside their cruiser. One of them, the driver for the trip, suddenly began to assault Ms. Zhang without any provocation. He first poked her legs and back with a sharp-tipped pen, before lifting her shirt to cover her head and then slamming it against the car frame.

The officer (badge number: 05535) didn’t stop until Ms. Zhang stuck her head out of a car window and cried for help.

Ms. Zhang refused to go through the required medical examination, so Feiwang City Detention Center declined to admit her. The police then took her back to Dawenhe Police Station.

The police released her later in the afternoon and returned her confiscated electric bike.
