Young Practitioner: Feedback for Elderly Practitioners

Sept. 19, 2016 |   By a young Falun Dafa practitioner in China

(Minghui.org) I am a young Falun Dafa practitioner who has been exposed to Dafa's cultivation environment for the past 10 years, but I only began my cultivation as a true practitioner this year. I am studying the Dafa books, doing the exercises, sending righteous thoughts and clarifying the facts about Dafa to people. I sincerely thank Master for protecting me all these years and waiting for me.

Most of the practitioners in my area are elderly. I joined the local Fa study group and observed the behavior of my fellow practitioners. I would like to provide feedback on some issues, including cultivating speech, and the relationship with their children.

Cultivating Speech

Some elderly practitioners do not pay attention to cultivating speech. They often talk about irrelevant issues. Some even feel indignant when things do not go their way. When fellow practitioners address them, they pause for a few minutes, and then continue to address the same irrelevant issues.

Some elderly practitioners treat the Fa study session as a social gathering because they are lonely. They talk about their experience, their distress and the unfairness they experienced, instead of sharing their understanding on the Fa and xinxing improvement.

Relationship with Children

Some elderly practitioners do not have a harmonious relationship with their children and ignore them. They think that they have brought up their children and that was enough. When they have conflicts, some see their children as being immature. They also feel that they were wronged by their children, which results in conflicts.

Although some practitioners get up every morning to do the exercises, their bodies show signs of aging. I think this happens because of their relationship with their children. Furthermore, their bad relationship prevent some children from obtaining the Fa.

Some practitioners wish that their children practiced Dafa, but go about it the wrong way. They tell them the benefits of the practice, such as improving scholastic performance and their career. This is disrespectful to Dafa. We should not use these benefits to entice people to join the practice.

Relationship with Other Practitioners

When some practitioners experience tribulations, they point fingers at other practitioners and distort fellow practitioners' words.

Some want to befriend practitioners in high social positions to establish a network to land jobs for their children or relatives. Our cultivation environment should be pure. Practitioners should not use others.

There are practitioners who compliment practitioners for doing well when distributing Dafa informational materials. However, when their family members who are practitioners are doing well in that respect, they worry about their safety. All practitioners are our brothers and sisters, so we should be supportive of all of them.

Some elderly practitioners want fellow practitioners to do things their way. When they do not get their way, they badmouth practitioners behind their backs. They do not remember that everyone has their own cultivation path arranged by Master.

Other Issues

Some practitioners own large businesses and thus are very busy, claiming that they need to support their families. They rarely go out and talk to people about Dafa. Some practitioners support them, claiming that their success validates Dafa.

Some practitioners were illiterate, but could read the Dafa books after about 20 years of cultivation. Unfortunately, their reading speed is so fast that I am unable to keep up. It is difficult to imagine that they know what they are reading.

These are some of the things that I have observed. I am not trying to blame these practitioners but want to share my thoughts, so that everyone can pay attention to these issues.
