My Learning Experiences at a Tourist Site

Sept. 28, 2016 |   By Falun Dafa practitioner in Europe

(Minghui.org) I began distributing newspapers at tourist attraction this summer to inform people about the persecution of Falun Dafa in China. The initial results were not ideal. I could distribute only 20 to 30 papers, 50 at most.

Some tourist groups would not take any. This perplexed me. What prevented them from learning the truth?

Learning on the Job, Taking Ownership

I understood that most of the Chinese tourists had been deceived by the Chinese Communist Party's hate propaganda. How could I capture their attention and encourage them to seek the facts themselves? I began thinking of ways to reach them.

One day, I read an experience-sharing article about a practitioner who was able to point out the flaws of the “Tiananmen Self-Immolation” hoax in ten seconds and inspired tourists to learn the facts.

That greatly encouraged me, and I quickly reorganized my talking points. I focused on the self-immolation hoax, organ harvesting, and how people practice Falun Dafa all over the world.

I was able to summarize each of them in ten seconds. I practiced with a stopwatch and rehearsed my talking points over and over.

I began to practice my short speeches when I saw that a tourist group would be coming the next day. When some tourists cursed or were unruly, I quickly captured their attention: “The Tiananmen self-immolation was a staged act. I say that because, if it was a sudden, unexpected event, how could there be so many close-up videos? How could a professional cameraman happen to be around? The little girl had a tracheostomy. Anyone with any basic health knowledge would know someone with a tracheostomy cannot talk, let alone sing.”

I showed them the newspaper and told them that it contained many factsthat the Chinese Communist Party dares not reveal. “Come to see for yourselves. Learn the facts!”

Three groups passed by, and no one pick up the paper. I pushed down my negative thoughts and continued. When the fourth group came, many did pick up the paper.

When the first three groups came out of the attraction, they also picked up the paper. I gave away 60 papers that day–a record. I was encouraged.

This went well for a few days. Then, on the third day, a young tourist suddenly slapped me. I was shocked but immediately composed myself. I realized what I did was right; the evil could not stand it and was testing me to see if I could handle it and persevere. The number of papers I distributed increased to 70, then 80, 90 and over 100.

Interacting with Tourists and Their Guides

I read the newspaper attentively before I distributed them. Sometimes I would highlight one or two sentences to get the tourists’ attention.

When tourists objected to one of my points, I would debate with them until they could no longer speak. I no longer do that, because I feel sorry that they have been deeply misled for years by CCP propaganda. Now I just kindly advise them to learn the facts that they were shielded from in China.

I also paid attention to the tour guides. One of the guides who had already learned the facts and quit the CCP never read the paper. One day, I showed him the section of the paper that talked about the prophecy of Liu Bowen.

That caught his attention. He took the paper. “I have to read it with my own eyes,” he said. Just like that, other tour guides followed. From then on, they would often come to pick up the newspaper.

I became more and more at ease at the tourist site. I would greet the tourists when they arrived and wish them a safe journey when they left. I also would add, “The tourist attraction is a review of history. The newspaper is a reality check. The two together will make your vacation even more memorable.”

Guides smiled, and many tourists agreed and would take one as a souvenir.

One day, a middle-aged woman approached me. A newspaper already in hand, she told me that I had a beautiful voice. We had a pleasant chat. The lady said she had traveled to many countries. I asked her whether she heard about the persecution of Falun Dafa and the movement to quit CCP. She listened attentively and agreed to withdraw from the CCP and its affiliated organizations.

Another person who had been listening said she liked my temperament, picked up the paper, and also withdrew from the Party.

Now, more and more tourists come to pick up the newspaper. I know that I have changed, and so do the tourists.

I am grateful for Master's inspiring protection and encouragement. I will continue to do well with the limited time left.
