About 40 Chongqing Women Still Imprisoned for Their Faith

Sept. 3, 2016 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Chongqing

(Minghui.org) About 40 locals are still serving time at Chongqing Women’s Prison for refusing to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.

The exact sentences of these Falun Gong practitioners remain to be investigated. One thing they share in common is that they have been subjected to various forms of mistreatment at the prison.

Forced Blood Draw

The prison had been doing an annual blood draw every September in the past few years. This year, they started one month earlier in August.

The detained practitioners were not only forced to have their blood drawn, but also had to have their fingerprints taken.

The prison claimed it is building a personal file for each imprisoned practitioner, but the practitioners suspect such a database may be used for the purpose of live organ harvesting.

Unknown Drugs

The prison also drugs practitioners on a regular basis. The guards either lace practitioners’ food with drugs or directly force practitioners to take unknown pills.

Corporal Punishment

Beatings are commonplace in the prison. In the winter time, the guards also often pour ice cold water into practitioners’ clothes or take their clothes off. Several inmates once pushed Ms. Zhang Zhenying’s head into a bucket of water.

Ms. Chen Changlan was once only allowed a total of 60 minutes of sleep in a span of three days, during which time she was forced to stand in military pose, offered half of the normal food ration and shocked by electric batons.

Forced Labor

Practitioners are also forced to work for extended periods of time without pay. Their latest job involves making travel bags. The workshop is filled with smell of ammonia solution.

Strict Monitoring

All practitioners are strictly monitored and not allowed to communicate with each other.

Sometimes they are also forced to transcribe prison rules from dawn to dusk.

During meal times, practitioners must curse at the founder of Falun Gong, or else they are denied utensils and have to use their hands to eat their food.

Humiliation

Ms. Tang Xixiu was transferred to the prison around November 2014. She soon developed health problems due to abuse. Still guard Tang Anzhi once stripped her to her undergarments in deep winter and ordered her to stand in a room for other inmates to watch.

Li Xiaojuan, education section chief, was holding an inmate meeting in July of this year when she had a slip of the tongue and revealed that Ms. Tang had died.

However, it is unclear where (in or out of prison), when, and how she died.
