“My Life Is So Happy!”

Sept. 30, 2016 |   By Lian Tai, a Falun Dafa practitioner in China

(Minghui.org) One night during the 2016 Chinese New Year holidays, I was washing dishes in the kitchen. My husband came into the kitchen humming a happy tune. He watched me washing and said, “Dining with a glass of wine, singing my favorite songs, mountaineering, playing soccer and riding a bicycle... my life! How can it be so happy?!”

I smiled back at him. This wasn't the first time my husband talked to me like this.

I am a Falun Dafa practitioner. I obtained the Fa during my junior year in college in 1998. After I graduated, I worked for a company in my hometown. I was fired from my job in 2000 for refusing to give up my beliefs. This was shortly after the persecution of Falun Dafa began in 1999.

I traveled afar to a large city to start a new life. I met a young man who supported freedom of belief and helped me during a difficult period of time. We got married in 2001.

He traveled abroad a few times for work. He said most of the foreigners he met had their own religions, worshiped their own gods, and respected each others' beliefs.

For years, our life was peaceful and uneventful. However, he surprised me one day by saying our relationship was not right.

I followed the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance in my day to day life. I looked inside to see if I had done anything wrong. My husband explained what he really meant, “I often see other couples fight and argue with each other. Why haven't we fought even once?” He looked at me with a silly smile. I smiled back but didn't say a word.

From when we first met to a few years after we got married, our life was pretty hard and we moved from one apartment to another. However, he still tried his best to help Falun Dafa practitioners who were persecuted.

He once visited a practitioner who was jailed in a forced labor camp who was my old classmate. Later, when the practitioner was released, he picked the practitioner up from the labor camp and let him stay at our apartment until he recovered and was able to move on.

During his visit to the forced labor camp, he offered a cigarette to a guard and they chatted. The guard asked my husband for his opinion of Falun Dafa. He said that he believed that everyone has the right to practice Falun Dafa.

Later we had a son, then a daughter. After my daughter was born, I became a stay-at-home mother.

Our life was harmonious. My husband worked and took care of all the money. We never discussed if he should earn more or less.

I continued my cultivation and brought up two children by following the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance.

My husband went to the United States to import a new technology in 2009. He was very fortunate to watch a Shen Yun show while he was there. Watching authentic traditional Chinese culture enriched his spirituality.

After he came back, he bought a laptop computer for me so I could keep up with the happenings of practitioners around the world. Through the Minghui website, I connected to practitioners from all over the world.

More than a decade has passed. Although my husband does not practice Falun Dafa his behavior aligns with that of a cultivator. Sometimes a supplier would give him some extra money as a thank you after a contract was fulfilled. He always donated the money to his company.

He is highly trusted by his colleagues and company management.

The general manager, a Westerner, awarded my husband “Employee of the Year” at the company's annual conference.

He likes swimming, mountaineering, bicycling and playing soccer. He takes photos of the company events and is the captain of the company soccer team.

We bought an apartment and a car.

Our children are growing up. One weekend, we attended our son's school band performance. Each band member could have one parent join them for a group photo. My husband stood beside his son with a big smile.

My son, who is now in middle school, is almost as tall as his father now.

When our son was little, my husband always brought him along when he went swimming, played soccer or went biking.

Now our son is more interested in his studies and band, so my husband brings our daughter with him. She is pretty and charming. He loves her very much.

During the past Chinese New Year holidays, several families gathered at a classmate's home to make dumplings. My husband chatted with the classmate's mother, “I guess it is because she (referring to me) practices Falun Dafa, our health has been good these years. The children are very healthy, too. We have never been to a hospital before.”

Our family has a son and a daughter, a house, a car and good health. We don't have worries or ailments. No wonder my husband said, “Life is so happy.”

My husband should have known that those who practice Falun Dafa benefit the whole family and those who help Falun Dafa practitioners will be blessed.

Being a practitioner, I have the happiness only a practitioner can enjoy. Being a non-practitioner, my husband has his own pursuits.

He once said that he would practice Falun Dafa after retirement. I hope he can start sooner because I understand life is very short, no matter how happy it is.

Reconnecting with Dafa and returning to heaven is our ultimate purpose.
