Gansu Retiree Files Lawsuit Against Jiang Zemin for His Eight Years of Imprisonment

Sept. 8, 2016

(Minghui.org) Mr. Li Fubin, 66, a retiree from Lanzhou City, Gansu Province, filed a lawsuit last June against former Party leader Jiang Zemin, for his eight years of imprisonment.

Mr. Li was arrested on February 10, 2002. After being detained in detention centers for 21 months, he was sentenced to eight years in prison in November of 2003. He was sent to Lanzhou Prison in March, 2004 to serve his term.

He was brutally tortured, including being beaten, confined in solitary for long stretches, deprived of sleep and family visits, and starved. He became emaciated and developed health problems, including high blood pressure. He was at one point unable to walk due to the torture.

His former employer suspended his pension in October 2003, and he was allotted less than $70 a month. His pension has still not been restored.

Mr. Li was arrested again on June 11, 2012, and given 18 months of forced labor. Due to his bad health, he was released on medical parole.

The details of what Mr. Li has endured are covered in the following articles:

BackgroundIn 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.

The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners over the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.

Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.

Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
