(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 16 cities or counties in 10 provinces. According to this report, 8 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 20 were illegally arrested.

1. [Nanyang City, Henan Province] Three Practitioners Sentenced to Prison

Mr. Yao Guofu and Ms. Liang Xin were each sentenced to four and a half years in prison, and Ms. Chen Yujing to one and a half years in prison by the Nanyang City Court on December 24, 2016.

2. [Hegang City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Huang Shisheng Given a Two-Year Prison Term

Mr. Huang Shisheng was sentenced to two years in prison by the Baoquanling Farm Reclamation Court, Heilongjiang Land Reclamation Bureau, on December 1, 2016.

3. [Xiao County, Anhui Province] Mr. Liu Fanting Sentenced to Three and a Half Years in Prison

Mr. Liu Fating was arrested by officers from the Xiao County Police Department in the second half of 2015, for suing Jiang Zemin, the former head of the communist regime who initiated the persecution of Falun Gong. He was held in the Xiao County Detention Center, and recently secretly tried. He was sentenced to three and a half years in prison, and secretly transferred to the Suzhou City No. 3 Prison on December 15, 2016.

4. [Jingshan County, Hubei Province] Mr. Xiang Kelin Given a Three-Year Prison Term

Mr. Xiang Keling was secretly sentenced to three years in prison on September 22, 2016.

5. [Tonghua City, Jilin Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Zhang Chunsheng and another practitioner were arrested on the morning of December 29, 2016. Their homes were ransacked. They are being held in the Changliu Detention Center.

Ms. Feng Xianzhi was arrested and her home ransacked on the afternoon of December 30, 2016. Officers confiscated photos of the founder of Falun Gong, Falun Gong books, a computer, and five cell phones, which were used for calling people and talking to them about Falun Gong.

6. [Pingdingshan City, Henan Province] Ms. Liu Shuying Detained

Ms. Liu Shuying was arrested by officers from the Zhongxinglu Police Station on December 28, 2016. She was held in the Xixia Detention Center.

7. [Longkou City, Shandong Province] Ms. Yu Xiaomei and Ms. Zhang Guixiang Detained

Ms. Yu Xiaomei and Ms. Zhang Guixiang were arrested by Wang Yucheng, deputy head of the Zhaoyuan Domestic Security Division, on the morning of December 29, 2016, for handing him a calendar which contained information about Falun Gong. Both practitioners are being held in the Zhaoyuan Detention Center, Linglong Town.

8. [Jiujiang County, Jiangxi Province] Mr. Huang Xianfa and Mr. He Shengxiang Detained

Mr. Huang Xianfa from Jiujiang County and Mr. He Shengxiang from Gangkou Town were arrested by officers from the Chengmen Police Station on December 31, 2016, for handing out desk calendars. Both practitioners are being held in the Jiujiang County Detention Center.

9. [Tongshan County, Hubei Province] Ms. Tang Chunfang Detained

Ms. Tang Chunfang was reported and arrested on the afternoon of December 27, 2016, for telling people about Falun Gong. She is being held in the Xian'an Detention Center.

10. [Lu County, Sichuan Province] Mr. Feng Dequn Detained

Mr. Feng Dequn was arrested by officers from the Lu County Domestic Security Division on December 29, 2016. He was taken to the Naxi Detention Center.

11. [Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province] Mr. Wang Hechu and Wife Ms. He Yaling Detained

Mr. Wang Hechu was arrested at work by officers from the Jiujiang City Police Department and the Xunyang Police Department's Domestic Security Division on December 27, 2016. The officers confiscated a computer, a cell phone, and Falun Gong books. Mr. Wang's wife Ms. He Yaling was also arrested and taken to the Xunyang Police Department for interrogation with written notes. Ms. He was released on bail that evening. Mr. Wang was taken to the Jiujiang City Detention Center.

12. [Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province] Three Practitioners Taken to Brainwashing Center

Ms. Zhang Xiuxian and two other female practitioners, Ah'Ling and Ah'Fang, were arrested by the Bairu Village security head and others on the afternoon of December 21, 2016, for handing out calendars. They were taken to the Haitou Police Station. Their motorcycles were confiscated, and the three practitioners were taken to the Zhanjiang City Brainwashing Center the following night.

13. [Yiyang City, Hunan Province] Ms. Chen Xinchu Arrested

Ms. Chen Xinchu was recently arrested for telling police officers about Falun Gong at a police station.

14. [Qidong City, Jiangsu Province] Three Practitioners Taken to Brainwashing Center

Ms. Zhang Yaping, in her sixties, from Xiangyang Township, was arrested by officers from the Qidong Domestic Security Division when her ID was checked on December 15, 2016. Ms. Zhu Fangying, 59, from Xingfu Village, Huilong Town, was arrested by the officers on December 28, 2016. Ms. Chen Yongmei, in her fifties, was arrested by the officers on December 29, 2016. The three practitioners are being held in the Weijiao Brainwashing Center.

15. [Huanan County, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Wei Detai Placed Under Administrative Detention

Mr. Wei Detai, an employee at the Huanan Forestry Bureau, was arrested by Zhang Haitao and other officers from the Huanan Forestry Bureau's Domestic Security Division on the evening of December 27, 2016. He was placed under administrative detention in the Huanan Forestry Bureau Detention Center.

16. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Mr. Yan Jingyou Passed Away Due to Persecution

Mr. Yan Jingyou, 67, was persecuted on numerous occasions and was displaced. He was arrested on November 29, 2013 and sentenced to four years in prison. He was released from prison on April 24, 2015. Due to long-term persecution, Mr. Yua passed away on the evening of December 28, 2016.
