Awakening the Conscience of a Policeman

Jan. 23, 2017 |   By a Falun Gong practitioner in China

(Minghui.org) On my way home from the supermarket, I overheard a man saying under his breath that he was in pain and should go to a hospital. I turned my head and noticed that this man did indeed appear to be in pain.

As there was no around, I approached him and asked what was going on. He told me that his whole body hurt, but the doctor could not pinpoint any reason for the pain.

As a Falun Gong practitioner I had an inkling about his malaise, so I asked him what kind of job he had. He told me that he was a policeman.

When asked to be more specific, he explained that he was the deputy director of a police station. I understood that he was a police officer in a district where the persecution of Falun Gong was rather severe.

“No wonder your health is poor,” I said. I then asked him if he knew how the public views the police, and he wanted to know more.

“The public thinks that the police are villains,” I said. “You do not do good things for people and you persecute good people. You arrest and detain elderly Falun Gong practitioners and beat them brutally. Some are sentenced to prison. Does this open your eyes as to why you are in pain? How many people in your station have received karmic retribution? Do you understand the Falun Gong principle of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance?”

He just stood there without saying a word.

So I continued, “You don't look like a bad person. This is why I'm telling you this.”

After he asked what he should do, I told him,“If you are a member of the Chinese Communist Party, first, you should renounce the Party. Don't participate in the persecution of Falun Gong. Treat people kindly and practice Falun Gong. Then, you will attain good health.”

He told me that his surname was Liu and that he would quit the Party. Also, he said that he would start practicing Falun Gong after he retired in three months.

While waiting for my bus I watched him walk away. Then, he turned around and approached me again.

“You are too kind,” he said in a low voice. “I don't want you to get hurt. There will be a trial of Falun Gong practitioners at the courthouse at 10 a.m. tomorrow. You must not go there because 20 police officers are going to be dispatched from each police substation to surround the court. They all will be in plainclothes. It is dangerous.”

I thanked him for his advice and wished him good health.
