Jan. 23, 2017 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Tianjin, China

(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners Yang Chunyan and her mother Sun Yunxiang from Tianjin were recently sentenced to prison. Ms. Yang was sentenced to three and a half years, and her mother to three years.

Three groups of police officers went to Ms. Yang's home on March 6, 2016. The first group came and said that they were looking for Ms. Yang. She politely invited them in. The police asked her if she had filed criminal complaints against Jiang Zemin. She said yes. When the police asked why she did it, she talked to them about the persecution of Falun Gong.

The second group of police came after one of the officers made a phone call. They repeated the same questions and Ms. Yang politely responded.

Next, the third group of police came. Without saying much, they held Ms. Yang up. One officer waved a piece of paper in front of her family and declared: “Yang Chunyan is under arrest.”

The large group of police began to ransacked her home. They seized a printer, six cell phones, some DVDs, and 5000 yuan worth of bills with Falun Gong messages on them.

They took Ms. Yang to the Dongli Detention Center. Her mother was also arrested later and taken to the same place.

Ms. Yang and her mother's arrests were approved the next day. The police released her mother after they extorted 10,000 yuan from her. It was learned that the three groups of people who arrested Ms. Yang were from the Xinli Village Police Station, the Dongli District Police Department, and the 610 Office.

Dongli District Court tried Ms. Yang and her mother on November 3, 2016. The lawyer pleaded not guilty for Ms. Yang.

Ms. Yang and her mother are being held at the Dongli Detention Center.
