(Minghui.org) Ms. Wang Guixiang, 55, is a Falun Gong practitioner from Gaizhou City. She was recently given an 18-month prison term by the Dashiqiao City Court and is currently detained in Liaoning Prison.

After Ms. Wang began practicing Falun Gong in 1998, illnesses she had disappeared, and she regained her health. After the persecution of Falun Gong began in July 1999, Ms. Wang was detained, forced to attend brainwashing sessions, and her home was ransacked three times.

Ms. Wang used to work at Gaizhou Hospital. She was also forced to quit her job and went without pay for 15 years, and her husband divorced her under intense pressure.

Ms. Wang sold her home in May 2003, and along with her daughter, wandered to different places to avoid being arrested. During this period, her daughter was killed in a car accident.

Although Ms. Wang moved often, she still found temporary work and did not rely on others. She was arrested at a night market by the police from the Gangdu Police Station in Dashiqiao City on June 28, 2016, and was taken to the Yingkou City Detention Center.

The police later ransacked the place where she stayed and confiscated Dafa books, 400 copies of Minghui Weekly and CDs.

Ms. Wang was forced to perform labor, clean the restrooms, and empty the garbage in the detention center. She was punished if she did not finish her work quota. Sometimes she fainted from exhaustion and bruised herself when she fell to the ground.

She was also beaten when she did the Falun Gong exercises. One time, she was beaten so badly that her family requested the detention center to allow her to be treated at a hospital. The detention center authorities refused and threatened them.

Ms. Wang was illegally tried in the Dashiqiao City Court on November 17, 2016.

The trial ended without a verdict. Ms. Wang was later sentenced to 18 months in prison and fined 3,000 yuan. She appealed her case to the intermediate court, but the original ruling was upheld.
