(Minghui.org) Thirteen Falun Gong practitioners from the Lishui District, Nanjing City are known to have been arrested and detained since mid-2016 for refusing to renounce Falun Gong. Some have been tried in court.

Ms. Pan Chengying, a teacher, was arrested on May 17, 2016. She was first taken to a brainwashing center in Baima, and transferred to the Nanjing Detention Center on June 20, 2016. She was tried in March 2017, but is still being held in the Nanjing Detention Center.

Mr. Yan Jiahuai and his wife, Ms. Liu Wenying, were arrested on September 14, 2016, and tried in August 2017. Mr. Yan is being held in the Lishui Detention Center; Ms. Liu is in the Nanjing Detention Center. Both practitioners are awaiting the verdicts.

Ms. Wang Yuxiang’s family thought she went missing, but later found out that she is being held in the Nanjing Detention Center. Police never informed the family of her arrest and detention.

Ms. Liu Changfeng and Ms. Peng Xiuying were arrested while distributing Falun Gong materials at a local fair on February 5, 2017. Police ransacked their homes. Both practitioners were found to have high blood pressure during a required medical examination. They were released on bail, awaiting trial.

Ms. Zhang Suzhen, Jia Juying, and Xu Xiaomin were arrested while distributing informational materials about Falun Gong on August 14, 2017. Ms. Zeng Zhaohua, 71, was arrested on August 22, 2017. The four practitioners are being held in the Nanjing Detention Center. Ms. Zhang’s arrest warrant has been approved.

Ms. Chen Hongying, around 70 years old, was arrested on August 30, 2017, while out grocery shopping. She is being held in the Nanjing Detention Center.

Ms. Gu Chao and Ms. Tao Zailan were arrested while talking to people about Falun Gong on September 18, 2017. Local police chief Fang Mingsheng led a few officers to Ms. Gu's home. They pried open the door and ransacked the place. Both practitioners are being held in the Nanjing Detention Center.
