(Minghui.org) Police from the local domestic security division came to my home last April. They searched my house and arrested me. One officer said it was because I had been to a local police station several days before to tell officers about Falun Gong.
I saw that the interrogation was being recorded, so I explained that freedom of belief and speech were protected by Articles 35 and 36 of the Chinese Constitution. In addition, Article 245 of the Criminal Law forbids intrusion into private property without a warrant. I told them that anyone, including government officials, would be responsible for their actions.
The three of them listened to me. After I gave them some examples in which police officers freed practitioners without any conditions, they discussed it and one of them told me I could go home.
As soon as I stepped out of the police station, a police van came after me and took me back to the police station. “There are certain procedures we have not finished yet,” said one officer.
Several police officers transferred me to a detention center the next day. Inside the cell, I recalled the entire process, wondering what I could have done wrong. I eventually realized my impatience, struggling, resentment, and Party culture all contributed to the arrest and detention.
Then something related to this came to my mind. When another practitioner and I went to the domestic security bureau last year to tell officers about Falun Gong, one officer, Wang, offered us tea. He said he was struggling in his mind. On the one hand, he knew Falun Gong practitioners were innocent. On the other hand, he had to do his job to make a living and dared not ignore orders from above.
“How about getting a different job?” I said to him.“It's not that easy,” he said. “I thought about it, but finding another job is difficult.”
In fact, he had participated in numerous arrests, including several that involved me. He also tortured me with the tiger bench. I tried many times to tell him what Falun Gong was, hoping he would stop doing bad deeds. But he acted like a robot and kept doing what he was told to do.
This time, Wang was again one of the officers who arrested me. Thinking about all this, I resented him. At the same time, I used him as a mirror and noticed some of my own problems. For example, although I had tried many years to let go of impure thoughts, they still existed inside me.
I then remembered Master's words in “Fa Teaching Given at the 2015 New York Fa Conference,”
“And yet you came. And they did the same. They came, with the thought that this Fa would certainly save them and with full confidence in Dafa. Then that alone should be reason enough for us to save them, shouldn’t it? You absolutely should save them. They once were incomparably holy gods.”
One thought came to my mind, “You will be released in 30 days; otherwise, you may be resentful again.” Thinking it was an old-force arrangement, I decided to oppose it. I made up my mind to remain a genuine Dafa disciple no matter what happened.
Two officers came the following day for a talk. “If you write a statement to stop practicing Falun Gong, you can go home in 30 days. If not, you will be sent to prison and you will lose your job.”
“I will not write anything. I cannot live without Falun Gong,” I said. “I did not do anything that violates the law. You must release me.”
Two weeks later, they interrogated me again. I entered the room and saw several officers including Wang. In my mind, I hoped Master would help me so that I could tell them the facts of Falun Gong with compassion and selflessness. From the Chinese Constitution, Criminal Law, and Civil Law, I said their actions were unlawful. In fact, my arrest and detention would result in their being subject to up to three years of imprisonment.
“How do you know all this?” asked Wang, in a panic.
“We all have to follow the law. That is how we can protect ourselves,” I replied. “Please stop mistreating innocent Falun Gong practitioners.”
He just stood there, doing nothing and saying nothing, as if the vicious communist elements had been wiped from his brain. I knew Master was helping me.
Officers from the city 610 Office came to visit me after a few days. I told them I had three requests: Hold those responsible who made the arrest without a warrant, release me immediately, and reimburse me 100,000 yuan for financial loss and mental anguish.
One officer suggested that we have a casual chat. I told her Falun Gong was not what the propaganda claimed it to be and shared my personal story. I also recalled what happened to me in the forced labor camp in 2011. For two years I was not allowed to leave the cell other than to use the bathroom. Insufficient oxygen led to a cerebral hemorrhage. My entire body swelled and my face was deformed. “Not only that, the guards kept pushing me to give up my belief, saying they would not do anything until I stopped practicing Falun Gong.”
I also told them that many Falun Gong practitioners are the backbone of society and they represent the future of China. In fact, one officer involved later died in a car accident, and some people considered it related to the bad deeds she had committed. The 610 Office agents thought about what I'd said and some of them nodded.
After a few days, officials from the Procuratorate discussed my case. They said if I was not released after 37 days, I would be sentenced and imprisoned.
“This is the sixth time you are going through this,” said one procuratorial officer.
“Not really,” I replied. I told him I had been mistreated six times for my belief and that everything they did to persecute me was against the constitution.
He then suggested release on bail. “At least it's better than you staying here like this,” he said.
I said no. “That is not what I want. I am innocent and I should be released unconditionally. It is those officers who mistreated me that should be kept here and subject to imprisonment.”
Returning to the cell, I looked within and found myself still resentful. That is, I felt unfairness and had some thought of revenge. In addition, I was emotional and always wanted what I had asked for. When talking with the procuratorial officer, I did not have compassion or consider things from his angle.
So I asked Master for help, to eliminate all attachments, interfering thoughts, and resentment in my dimension. I would only follow Master's arrangement and I had no attachment. I found my mind had become calmer.
On the 37th day, a guard said to me, “If you write a statement, you can go home; otherwise, you will end up in prison.”
“Thank you,” I replied, “I know what I am doing.”
A guard called me that afternoon and told me to pack up my belongings and come to the office. At the office, I was told to go home.
Walking out of the detention center, I came to a parking lot where I saw officer Wang. In the 18 years that Falun Gong has been persecuted, that once-young man had now become middle-aged. He looked as strong as the other officers I had seen.
Wang gave me a thumbs-up and said, “Many things have happened these years, but you have not said anything negative about me. You are a noble person.”
I stood there, unable to say a word. I knew that, although these words came out of his mouth, it was also encouragement from Master: Once I had no resentment for that officer, his negative feelings towards me were also dissolved by Master.
Looking back, it took me 37 days to let go of resentment. Thanking Master who had helped me along the way, I made up my mind to do my best from then on.
What happened next was astonishing: Through my celestial eye, I saw an immense force coming to wash away all resentment in my dimension and in the cosmos.
In Zhuan Falun, Master said, “Good or evil comes from that instant thought.” By then, I had a new understanding of the words. The resentment was so immense and huge. It was Master who helped me eliminate it, not my own efforts. I now truly witnessed the power of the Fa.
Thank you, Master.
