Inhuman Persecution at Guangdong Women's Prison

Nov. 7, 2017 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Guangdong Province, China

(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wu Youqing, a resident of Gaozhou, was illegally detained for ten days following her arrest on September 20, 2017. Her home was ransacked and several copies of the Minghui Weekly were confiscated.

Ms. Wu was among the five practitioners arrested back on August 1, 2013, for handing out Falun Gong materials. She was sentenced to four years on December 16 and taken to Guangdong Women's Prison on February 27, 2014.

Ms. Wu described below what she endured in prison.

Not Allowed to Use Restroom

I was assigned to the No. 4 Ward, which is notorious for “transforming” Falun Gong practitioners.

On the first day, I was severely beaten by inmates for my refusal to wear the prison uniform. They made me stand up for long hours.

I was deprived of sleep and forced to sit on a small stool the whole day to read books and materials that denigrated Falun Gong. I was not allowed to use the restroom or shower if I did not read the slanderous materials.

Ten days later, I was locked up in an “interrogation room,” also known as “solitary confinement,” and closely monitored by inmates around the clock. I was allowed only a small amount of food, but no water. I had to watch slanderous videos and was beaten with paper tubes if I fell asleep.

I was not allowed to leave the room and had to relieve myself in my pants. I had to use my clothes to clean it up if I got anything on the floor. I thus tried to hold it as long as I could, making me incontinent later.

Doused with Cold Water

I was not allowed to wash myself or my clothes even when other inmates complained of the smell. Instead, I was doused with freezing water from head to toe when it was cold in the winter.
