Ms. Liu Yuhong from Tianjin Arrested and Tried for Her Beliefs

Nov. 8, 2017 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Tianjin, China

(Minghui.org) Ms. Liu Yuhong, a Falun Gong practitioner and resident of the Dongli District in Tianjin, was illegally tried in the Dongli District Court on October 24, 2017. She was arrested by Development Zone Police Station officers on July 5 for distributing Falun Gong materials.

The Dongli District Procuratorate had no record of Ms. Liu's trial. When Ms. Liu was not in the courtroom at the start of the trial, the presiding judge went to the Procuratorate to bring her in. She looked very thin and pale even though she had only been detained for three months.

The person defending Ms. Liu argued that the evidence presented by the prosecutor was not valid because it had been collected illegally. The plainclothes officers did not show their identification when they arrested her. They also ransacked her home and confiscated her personal belongings.

The person defending her said, “Ms. Liu was interrogated under an administrative arrest on July 5. The interrogation records generated that day cannot be used as evidence for a criminal charge. Only Ms. Liu's statement matters.”

Ms. Liu argued that distributing Falun Gong materials allows people to understand the facts of the persecution and does not harm anyone.

The trial ended without a verdict.
