(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 14 cities or countries in 9 provinces. According to this report, 5 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 17 were illegally arrested.

1. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Xi Yanzhi and Ms. Yu Lianhui Sentenced

Ms. Xi Yanzhi and Ms. Yu Lianhui of Lidian Town, Wafangdian City were arrested on March 15, 2016 by officers from the Jiulong Police Station in Wafangdian City. They were sentenced to three years and admitted to the Liaoning Women's Prison on February 7, 2017.

2. [Dengta City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Wang Lejun Facing Second Trial

Mr. Wang Lejun was arrested on November 24, 2015 by officers from the Dengta City Domestic Security Division, the Police Department, and the Gucheng Police Station. He was sentenced to four years by the Dengta City Court. Mr. Wang appealed. The Liaoning Middle Court will hold a second trial on February 24, 2017. He is held at the Wujia Detention Center.

3. [Linqing City, Shandong Province] Mr. Kang Zongfeng and His Wife Arrested

Mr. Kang Zongfeng of Songlin Village, Songlin Town was arrested on the morning of February 18, 2017 by officers from Baimahu Police Station when he was posting Falun Gong flyers. His wife, Ms. Wei Fengqin appealed for his release at the Linqing City Domestic Security Division on February 20. Officers from the security division arrested her, took her to Baimahu Police Station and filed a case against her. She was released, but was arrested again at home at 4:00 p.m. by Linqing City police.

Their son, Mr. Kang Shoubo was sentenced to three years for practicing Falun Gong by the Linqing City Court on November 23, 2016.

4. [Luoyang City, Henan Province] Three Family Members Detained

Ms. Guo Xiaohui, her mother, and her younger brother were arrested while they were distributing Falun Gong flyers in Cijian Township, Xinan County. They were first held at the Cijian Police Station, then they were sent to Xinan County.

5. [Bayan County, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Sun Maojian and Ms. Tian Xiaodong Detained

Mr. Sun Maojian and his wife Ms. Tian Xiaodong were arrested in Suihua City on February 11, 2017. Ms. Tian is held at the Yaziquan Detention Center in Harbin City. Mr. Sun is held at the Bayan County Detention Center.

6. [Beijing] Ms. Zhu Shuyuan Detained

Ms. Zhu Shuyuan, 66, from Hongwu Village, Shilibao Town, Miyun County was arrested on the morning of October 23, 2016 by officers from the Xitiangezhuang Police Station, Miyun County when she was distributing Falun Gong flyers in the Yunxi Developing Zone. She is held at the Shilibao Detention Center in Miyun County.

7. [Zhaoyuan, Shandong Province] Mr. Liu Haohui Taken to Prison

Mr. Liu Haohui has been admitted to Laiyang City Prison on February 6, 2017, two months after his appeal against the prison sentence was rejected.

Mr. Liu was arrested on August 21, 2015 for possessing and distributing Falun Gong materials. He was sentenced to seven years on September 5, 2016. The Yantai Intermediate Court turned down his appeal three months later without holding an open hearing.

8. [Baixiang County, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhao Yingfen Transferred to Prison

Ms. Zhao Yingfen's appeal against her prison sentence was turned down and she has been transferred to the Hebei Province Women's Prison to serve four years.

Ms. Zhao, who worked as a financial planner, was arrested on January 1, 2016 for refusing to renounce Falun Gong. She was tried on July 25 and sentenced to four years in prison. She appealed, but the Xingtai City Intermediate Court upheld the original verdict without holding an opening hearing.

The 46-year-old's family is extremely concerned about her well being. At least 324 Hebei Falun Gong practitioners have suffered various forms of torture in the prison since its establishment in August 2005. There are still about 12 practitioners imprisoned there.

9. [Fuxin, Liaoning Province] Mr. Gao Yunmin Tortured in Prison

Mr. Gao Yumin is in poor physical condition while serving three-and-a-half years at Shenyang Prison.

The former police officer was arrested in November 2013 for talking to people about Falun Gong. He was given five years, but the sentence was later reduced to three-and-a-half years upon appeal.

He has gone on hunger strikes many times to protest the imprisonment, only to be force-fed and abused by the prison guards. He has suffered tremendously as a result.

It was learned that he was also given injections that damaged his central nervous system. According to insiders, his intelligence is now that of a little child.

10. [Yongan City, Fujian Province] Ms. Zuo Xinyun and Ms. Zhang Yuanting Sentenced

Two former kindergarten teachers were sentenced to prison for refusing to renounce their belief in Falun Gong.

Ms. Zuo Xinyun and Ms. Zhang Yuanting were arrested on December 28, 2015. They were recently sentenced to prison, each receiving four years. They were sent to Fuzhou Women's Prison.

Prior to their latest arrest, Ms. Zuo served a cumulative of twelve-and-a-half years in prison for her faith and Ms. Zhang three-and-a-half years.

11. [Guangzhou, Guangdong Province] Ms. Luo Xiaojun Arrested

Ms. Luo Xiaojun was arrested on February 19, 2017 while talking to people about Falun Gong. She currently remains at the Panyu Detention Center.

Ms. Luo, 35, once suffered force-feeding torture following her earlier arrest in August 2010. She passed out at least three times during the force-feeding process. She became mentally disoriented for a period of time.

12. [Jingtai County, Gansu Province] Ms. Yu Youzhen Detained for More Than One Year

Ms. Yu Youzhen was arrested on January 26, 2016. She has been detained for more than a year.

Ms. Yu’s lawyer went to Jingtai several times. The Jingtai Court tried her on July 5, 2016, but did not allow the lawyer to defend her during the trial. It was said that she was sentenced to three years of imprisonment and has filed an appeal. However, her family did not receive any written notification.

13. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Wang Suoxian Sentenced to Four Years of Imprisonment

The Dongxihu Court tried Ms. Wang Suoxian on the morning of December 6, 2016. Her lawyer entered a not-guilty plea. There was no verdict at the end of the trial.

It was reported several days later that Ms. Wang was sentenced to four years of imprisonment and fined 10,000 yuan.

14. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Wang Zhuang’s Case Submitted to Court

Mr. Wang Zhuang went back to his hometown in Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province in June 2016 to take care of his elderly father. He was arrested by officers from the Dalian Domestic Security Division.

Mr. Wang has been held in Dalian Detention Center and his case has been submitted to Ganjingzi Court. His 86-year-old father is waiting for his return.

15. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Cong Liang’s Family Has Not Seen Him for Over Two Years

Mr. Cong Liang and eight practitioners were arrested on April 13, 2015 and taken to the Shenyang No. 1 Detention Center. Their cases were submitted to the Shenhe District Procuratorate on May 13, 2015 and then to the Shenhe District Court on January 1, 2016.

Five practitioners have been released. The other four practitioners were tried and sentenced. According to a report on Minghui.org on September 22, 2016, Mr. Cong was transferred to Dalian Prison.

Mr. Cong’s family has not been allowed to see him since his arrest.
