A Family in Daqing City Sues Jiang Zemin for Their Hardship

March 8, 2017 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Heilongjiang Province, China

(Minghui.org) Daqing City resident Mr. Qu Wencai, a Falun Gong (also known as Falun Dafa) supporter, filed a lawsuit against former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin on behalf of himself and his family for their many years of hardship.

The suit was mailed to the Supreme Procuratorate and the Supreme Court on June 27, 2015.

Mr. Qu alleged that his wife was arrested and imprisoned several times after Jiang launched the persecution in July 1999. His son was illegally sentenced to five years in prison, and tortured. His daughter was also illegally sentenced to five years and brutally tortured.

Mr. Qu wrote in his lawsuit that his wife and children had not broken any laws by practicing Falun Gong, and that it was the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) that broke the law by initiating and carrying out the persecution.

Mr. Qu Wencai

I am a 68-year-old retiree. I was a deputy director of a company. Having acted as Party secretary, I often questioned the legal basis for the persecution. I was told repeatedly that it was “a political issue.”

My wife used to have many problems with her health. All of her ailments disappeared after she started practicing Falun Gong in 1996. My son and my daughter followed suit and benefitted physically and spiritually from the practice.

I realized that practicing Falun Gong breaks no laws. But we have been repeatedly harassed, followed, and persecuted over the past 16 years. My home has been ransacked several times, a great deal of money has been extorted from us, and I have lived in fear.

The brutal tortures my family suffered in their illegal incarcerations were excruciating and devastating for me. I was worried and saddened every day. My family been unable to reunite for the New Year holiday for 12 years.

My Wife, Ms. Zhao Rongjie

On June 8, 2000, my wife, Ms. Zhao Rongjie, spoke out for Falun Gong and Master Li Hongzhi, the founder of Falun Gong, on Tiananmen Square in Beijing. For this she was arrested and escorted back to Daqing Detention Center.

She was then taken to Lindian Detention Center on June 20 for ten days. She was beaten and forced to stand with shackles in the scorching sun. Our family had 2,800 yuan extorted from us.

After her release, her employer put her on probation for a year, and her monthly wages were reduced by 228 yuan. The payroll office withheld more than 20,000 yuan from her salary.

She and her sister were arrested at her sister’s home on December 29, 2000, and held in the Wumahe Detention Center in Yuchun. She was transferred to Daqing No. 1 Detention Center 18 days later. My family paid a 2,000-yuan “fine” to get me released on April 21, 2001.

Officers from Longfeng Police Station arrested her on September 30, 2002. They ransacked our home and confiscated Dafa books and a photo of Master Li.

She was supposed to spend three years in a forced labor camp but was released because she failed the physical exam.

She was arrested in January 2003 at her sister’s home and taken to Wumahe Detention Center again, where she was detained for nine days.

Later the same year, officers from the Daqing Police Department picked her up and took her to a hospital for another physical exam in order to get her into the forced labor camp. They let her go because she started to have convulsions.

She was harassed and followed on sensitive days, and in June 2006, she was followed for three days when a big summit meeting was being held in Shanghai. She was watched day and night in 2008, during the Olympic Games in Beijing.

She and out daughter were arrested on June 20, 2012. She was released, but our daughter was detained for 20 days.

Officers from the Huian Branch Police Station in Fujian Province ransacked our temporary home without a warrant on February 27, 2013. They arrested her and our two children, and confiscated many Dafa books. She was detained for ten days, and our son and daughter, for 15 days each.

She was searched at a market place on February 6, 2014, and arrested and taken to a police station. Near the end of the year, her and my daughter’s passports were revoked. They were also restricted from leaving or entering the country.

She was arrested again on April 29, 2015, for refusing to give up my belief in Falun Dafa.

My Son, Mr. Qu Yanlai

My son was handcuffed and hung up in the air for two hours in October 2001, when he was detained in Beijing Fangshan District Detention Center.

He was arrested again on September 30, 2002, tied to a chair with a leather belt, and left overnight in Tapou Police Station. He was then severely tortured.

On October 2, he was taken to Putuo District Detention Center. He had been so badly injured from being tortured in the police station that the detention center at first refused to admit him, but they were forced to.

He went on a hunger strike to protest and was brutally force-fed every day. His hunger strike lasted for five years.

Inmates in the detention center beat him, dragged him up and down concrete steps, and doused him with ice cold water.

The guards and inmates also verbally abused him and Falun Gong.

He was taken to Tilanqiao Prison Hospital on March 14, 2003, and tied spread-eagle to the bed. He was not untied even to relieve himself. The guards and doctor force-fed him and gave him intravenous infusions every day.

Attempting to force him to give up his hunger strike, they stopped feeding him entirely and tried to starve him into submission. They started forced-feeding again him ten days later.

He was tried on June 2, with no one in our family allowed to be present. He was sentenced to five years in prison and taken to Tilanqiao Prison on July 2, 2003.

He was tortured every day until he was released on December 27, 2006.

My Daughter, Ms. Qu Yanyan

My daughter Ms. Qu Yanyan she was severely beaten in October 2001, and had her hands and legs handcuffed together behind her back for nine days in Fangshan District Detention Center. Three officers from Longfang Police Station brought her home to Daqing and extorted 10,000 yuan from us.

She was arrested in Shanghai while visiting her brother on March 2, 2007, and illegally sentenced to five years in prison.

In Shanghai Songjiang Women's Prison, the inmates were encouraged to do anything they could to “transform” practitioners. If they were successful, their prison terms would be reduced.

She was confined to a small room during the first four months, with the window opened year-round. She could not get sleep in the winter because it was too cold, and the light was left on all the time. Mosquitos got in and stung her when the weather was warm.

She was not allowed to shower or use the restroom so she had to use a chamber pot. She was forced to stand upright until 10:00 p.m. every day.

She was tortured even after being removed from the confinement room. In addition, she was forced to watch videos that slandered Falun Gong and Master Li.

Things were much worse for her during last five months. She had to get out of bed at 5:00 a.m. every day and stand up or sit up straight until 11:00 p.m., and sometimes until midnight.

She was not allowed to sleep for more than 100 days. The inmates struck her every ten minutes to keep her awake. She was never given enough to eat.

They threatened her, telling her that they would send her to a brainwashing center if she did not sign the three statements, promising to give up her belief.
