(Minghui.org) A vice president of Beijing Leadman Biochemistry Co., Ltd. has been issued a formal arrest warrant after she was seized earlier this year for refusing to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.
Ms. Sun Qian now faces indictment for her faith.
The 50-year-old woman is a Canadian citizen who grew up in China’s Shandong Province and currently lives and works in Beijing. She used to suffer from heart palpitations, liver problems, and depression, but all her symptoms disappeared after she began practicing Falun Gong in 2014.
She was home on February 19, 2017 when more than two dozen officers broke in and arrested her. Her Falun Gong books, cell phone, computer, printer, and other valuables were confiscated.
The police, however, refused to disclose where she was being detained. It took her family several weeks to find out that she is now being held in the Beijing First Detention Center.
Ms. Sun’s lawyer learned from her that she was placed in solitary confinement on several occasions for refusing to cooperate with guards. He and her family informed the Canadian Embassy in Beijing of her condition. A consular officer later visited Ms. Sun and expressed the Canadian government’s concern for her. The detention center stopped putting her in solitary confinement after the visit.
Ms. Sun’s family learned on March 28, 2017 that Beijing First Procuratorate has issued a formal arrest warrant against her. In an interview with a media outlet outside of China, her family reiterated that Ms. Sun broke no law by exercising her constitutional right to freedom, and they call for the public to help seek her release.
