Store Owner Assaulted by Police Chief Sentenced to Three Years

(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Huang Futang in Zibo City, Shandong Province, was arrested in March 2016 and sentenced to three years in prison. He has been incarcerated in Jinan Prison for seven months.

Deputy Chief Niu Yong and several officers from Jiazhuang Police Station in Zibo City went to Mr. Huang's home on March 22, 2016. Without identifying themselves, they beat and seriously injured Mr. Huang. His store was ransacked, and the officers seized 2,000 yuan and personal belongings.

Mr. Huang filed a complaint detailing the illegal actions of the police with the Procuratorate. He also sent copies of his complaint to Niu Yong and the Jiazhuang Police Station.

An official from the 610 Office directed Chief Yong and another officer to beat Mr. Huang in retaliation. Mr. Huang was taken to the Zibo City No. 4 Hospital as a result of the beating. His genitalia had been seriously injured. He was hospitalized several times while he was in detention prior to his trial.

Mr. Huang was tried in the Zhangdian District Court with three other practitioners on September 20, 2016. He was sentenced to three years in prison and taken to Jinan Prison in December 2016.

The Zibo police arrested over 50 other practitioners around the time of Mr. Huang's arrest. Several of them were sentenced to prison.
