Resolving Conflicts with Compassion

Sept. 20, 2017 |   By a practitioner in Shandong Province, China

(Minghui.org) I am a farmer in Yantai, Shandong Province. Last winter, my wife and I went to my farm, where we found a big mess: our neighbor had dug out the rich soil from my land and piled it up in his field. Five peach trees I planted had also been dug up, lying there almost dead.

Moreover, the neighbor even planted his own peach trees on my land; he took over that section of my field.

My wife got upset and wanted to argue with him. I stopped her, saying, “Let it go. There are no coincidences in cultivation. We are practitioners, and we all know the relationship between loss and gain. How much we lose is how much we gain.”

Master wrote:

“If something is yours, you will not lose it. If something is not yours, you will not have it even if you fight for it.”Zhuan Falun)

Perhaps this happened because we owed that person something from another lifetime.

When I ran into the neighbor, I was very calm and had an empty mind, as if nothing had happened. Later, when they saw that I didn't fight with them and treated them kindly as if nothing had happened, they felt guilty.

The neighbor's wife treats us warmly. She often chats with us and doesn't want us to leave. She said, “I enjoy listening to you. I enjoy hanging out with people like you. What you said sounds really reasonable.”

When she has conflicts with her husband, she often says to him, “We should learn from the Falun Gong practitioners.”
