(Minghui.org) Ms. Hu Liwen, a Falun Gong practitioner in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, was arrested at home on July 22, 2018, along with her housekeeper, Hongmei, and her guest, Ms. Zhong Ping.

Police said they arrested Ms. Hu because she contacted overseas Falun Gong practitioners when she went abroad. They spent nearly four hours ransacking her home. All three women were taken to the Futian Detention Center and interrogated.

Ms. Hu was transferred from Futian Detention Center to the Nanshan District Detention Center a month later. The police also submitted her case to the Nanshan District Procuratorate.

Ms. Zhong was beaten when she refused to sign the interrogation form and resisted police efforts to obtain her fingerprints. She started a hunger strike to protest the persecution a month ago. The police retaliated by shaving her head, force-feeding her, verbally abusing her, and humiliating her in front of other detainees.

She is now very weak and suffers from memory loss. She suspects that the police are drugging her during force-feedings.

Hongmei, whose family name is unknown, succumbed to pressure and admitted she was “guilty” of practicing Falun Gong, even though no law in China criminalizes the spiritual discipline, which is based on the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. She was released on August 17, 2018.
