(Minghui.org) Since Jiang Zemin, the former leader of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), launched the persecution of Falun Dafa in July 1999, the state-run media have defamed and slandered the practice. Many people were deceived by the propaganda and actively participated in the persecution, especially police officers.
However, as practitioners are detained, some police officers and lawyers have learned the truth, and stopped their involvement in the persecution. Some even started practicing Falun Dafa.
A female police officer was told to monitor and arrest Falun Dafa practitioners, and force them to give up their belief. As long as practitioners signed a prepared guarantee statement to say that they would no longer practice, they could be released.
This police officer thought it would be an easy job; who wants to be detained, instead of going home? But to her surprise, no one chose to leave Dafa. They would give up everything, even their lives, rather than give up Dafa.
She began to think about what made them so steadfast in their faith. In order to find the answer, she started reading Zhuan Falun. When she finished the book, she understood.
Before she had been brainwashed by the CCP's atheist education and didn't believe in Gods or Buddhas, and only cared about her personal interests.
However, when she finished reading Zhuan Falun, her world view changed. She decided to practice Dafa and do things according to Dafa's principles of 'Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance'.
Her workplace assigned apartments, and they were being sold much cheaper than the market value. One had become available, and she only needed to apply for it. All of her colleagues said that she was in the toughest situation, and encouraged her to try for it. But she said to them with a smile, “Others might be in more need of it than me.” She didn't fight for it, and the apartment went to someone else.
This police officer is highly regarded by her colleagues. However, she was fired because she practices Falun Dafa. Her colleagues couldn't understand her and tried to persuade her to give it up, but she told them that she is very lucky to practice Falun Dafa.
Dafa practitioners were trying to find a lawyer for an arrested practitioner. They inquired with many, but no one dared to accept the case for fear of reprisals from the CCP. The practitioners did manage to find a lawyer with 30 years of legal experience who wanted to help.
As he read up on the case, he found many documents about the legal basis of banning Falun Gong. He found a notice titled “Notice from Ministry of Public Security Regarding Identifying and Banning Cult Organizations,” that identified a total of 14 cult organizations, but Falun Dafa was not among them.
The lawyer then went to the local Procuratorate and found out that the “evidence” against his client consisted of only few booklets about Falun Dafa and the persecution. The judge told the lawyer that if his client agreed to give up her belief, she could be released.
The lawyer updated practitioners after meeting with the detained practitioner. “To my surprise,” he said, “she always considered me first when she talked. I tried to persuade her to give up her belief in order to get released, but she said that would not be good for me, so she refused to do so.”
The lawyer continued. “Her family found out about her arrest a few months later. She didn't have clothes to change into and no money, but she is still steadfast in her faith, and very optimistic.
“She is very kind and respects her teacher [of Falun Dafa]. She could go home if she signs their paperwork, but she would rather suffer in the detention center, and refuses to sign it. I really admire her.”
The lawyer told practitioners that he understood the facts about Falun Dafa now, and thought that Dafa practitioners weren't like what had been described in the media. “They are kind, honest and reliable people. It's hard to find such a person nowadays.”
This practitioner's case went to court in the end. “I would like to help her, even though I am under great pressure,” he said. “I will work for free, and will only charge for the fees for the firm.”
This lawyer also quit the Chinese Communist Party using his real name.
